Problem with 2700 OC

So I just built this system my previous build was a ryzen gen 1 with a 1600 and asus mobo.

Moved upto gen 2 and I am getting a weird issue where my processor is hitting 5.0ghz? unless hwmonitor is really messing up it does worry me.

Current build:

AMD Ryzen 7 2700 OC 4.2GHz ~ corsair H115i PRO rgb liquid cooler
Team Vulcan Gaming DDR4 3200 16gb
Geforce RTX 2080 rog strix
MSI B450 Gaming PRO Carbon AC

Temps range from 43C to 54C
max it hit was 5061 MHz earlier today it hit 4.8GHz

Precision boost is off in the bios. I cannot change core level performance as it is greyed out. I have gone through with a fine tooth comb but I feel I may need some help from the community on this issue as I have not had this problem before with the 1600 OC or the old asus mobo. I do miss the asus bios at this point. I will add since I built both of these at the same time this weekend since I was building my wife a computer, that in the asus bios for the 1600 I was able to disable the core performance boost...

Op, use HWINFO64.

https://www.hwinfo.com/download/

BTW, that is an amazing motherboard, value wise, to be able to oc the cpu to 4.2. Haven't tried oc'ing mine higher than 4.1GHz on an Asus Prime X470. I think my next motherboard would be a MSI X570 or 550. Carbon.

HWMonitor was and is a garbage, use HWiNFO. When you install it make sure that your RAM is running 3200 (1600MHz) C16 in it.

Hmm then I may need to stop complaining about my chip. I got the board though. Already booted with 4.4ghz.. Not stable at all but, I may be able to with the improved cooling setup i have now.

Hey guys I know its been a minute but I wanted to give an update.

I ended up settling in at 4.1ghz at 1.36V ~ the increase in voltage to go higher wasn't worth the extra heat. with summer temps outside and no AC ive got idle down to 29 from the original 43 and max on stress in the heat of day is only 65, but typically is around 40ish on load.

swapped my Vulcan ram to the wifes pc and moved my old vengeance over

3000mhz CL15 OC to 3333 1.35v stable timings at 16 haven't tried tightening them up as there stable atm. did increase speed quite noticeably.

hey nick was that with a 2700 or 2700x?

I get the same problem with HWMonitor - if the SoC-Voltage is set to low............ slightly bump up, all good.
