Yeah, probably aim for DDR4-3600 if he gets the Ryzen 3000 series chip. If the 2700x, 3200... as the memory controller can’t go as fast.

Why can't you just return both the X370 and the 2700x and buy the X370 again with the 3600? I see no reason why it wouldn't be part of the "eligible" motherboards for the 3xxx(x) series as well.

Why would the $30 off for a bundle not apply to the 3XXX(X) series? I know that we won't know for certain whether or not they are doing it, but I cannot think of a line of CPUs they did not offer a bundle discount on since Nehalem (which is only because I had not heard of Microcenter until Sandy Bridge [which had the discount] was released).

Because they want to move old SKUs no one will want after 7nm launches and they don't want to take a loss unnecessarily on a SKU that will sell like hotcakes at MSRP?

That's actually a good idea - I'll see if they'll do it but if not, I'm edging on keeping the 2700X with the board.

Will check and see if ASUS mentioned anything on BIOS updates for 3600 on the board. If that's the case I'll definitely need that bootkit.

About all decent motherboards from Asus and several other OEM's that are B or X series are getting bios microcode updates for this.

I'm still running a 1090T and will be upgrading to 3600 or 3600X. I won't be getting a 12 or 16 core because I only intend to date the 3000 series, not marry it!

Just getting the latest instruction sets should be a big plus. Since you already have a 2700X and MB in hand, I'd roll with it. It will be the most cost-effective solution and 5 years from now those extra 2 cores will be looking pretty good.

This is true.

I just checked my board and sticker is showing BIOS 3805 so I should be good for 2700X out of the box. I might go pickup the 3600 tomorrow anyway and then decide which I'm keeping after seeing reviews.
