I would have stretched for the crosshair 8 board at an extra $40-50.

Was thinking about it. But I don’t understand the difference between the two is. They seemingly are the same.

If I was you, I would still change that mobo. Unless you intend cruising only. OC is the name of the game.

16+ phase power is it? Plenty good for a moderate OC.

I'm going to buy pending sale of my main rig which is busy losing value quickly (minus the gpu, may be sitting for a while on that)

Any reviews on the 3800x yet? Still waiting to see if the extra cost is justifiable for the boost headroom..

Still unsure about board as well. Part of me wants to just cheap out since it doesn't look like there's any room for overclocking, but then maybe next year there will be a 7nm+ 16 core that can scale up.

The universe must provide answerssssssssss

Gigabyte Aorus Elite X570 looks really strong for $199.

Leave the CPU alone and enable PBO and dial in your RAM is the general consensus so far

That's the exact board I have in my newegg cart as we speak. Should be ok enough to run a 16 core next year.

It's going to be a seriously boring upgrade though since I usually spend the first 30 days obsessing over overclock guides..

Buy some B-Die and get into RAM OCing and you'll put in at least a month ez.

As much as I love the RX 5700 XT price and performance, I would not buy it simply because I'd wait for NAVI chips which have actual dedicated ray trace processors.

Intel Core i9 9900K HT 5GHz
GIGABYTE Z390 Ultra
AMD ASUS STRIX OC VEGA 64
G-Skill Trident 2x8GB DDR4 4000MHz

SeaSonic 1250W Gold
Corsair 900D + Custom Loop.

I would've jumped the gun on Ryzen 3000 but all boards sub $300 lack post LED's, and now I can't make my mind up between the Master, Ace, or Taichi they all seem to have their drawbacks.

Also waiting for a 3800x review, may be a good thing because it seems there may be a couple of bios teething issues for PBO. Reviewers never do a great job with overclocking so we generally have to wait for users to get the product in hand before we actually know what they're capable of.

P.S. 5700XT on the way for some fun testing
