Alright. Who jumped the gun?

Who’s got two thumbs, and jumped the gun? I may have, if I’m honest.

The 3700x is a heck of a good value for the performance it provides. You'll have to report back on how well yours oc's.

I picked up the 3700x to replace my 1600x on a CHVI. Haven’t tried an OC yet. I am however enjoying the 4.4GHz boost though. Had to disable sense mi, enable boost and set DOCP to 3200 cl14.

I went to Microcenter and paid $329 for the cpu and got a ASUS Strix B450 F board for $70. Will either sell the board with the 1600x to recoup some money or build another one and give it to the wife.

Nice, you went all in.

Let us know how it performs. I'm eager to hear your results. I currently have my eye on the 3900x.

I think X570 is a waste at this point. A solid ~$200 X470 board can do the same thing.

As far as gaming goes, the GPU is still biggest bottleneck. That's why I'm also only interested in the 3700X, and use the difference for a better GPU.

So your plan is to get 3950X and a GPU waterblock or custom air cooler? Because that's how your order looks right now.
3700X is best paired with a B450 until B550 arrives or a decent cheap X470.

X570 only makes sense for 3900X and 3950X.

Navi is not bad as some may think I think, it's simply not priced right and almost no one should be buying these reference blowers with absolutely inadequate cooling.
