PCIE cost increase from ~$10 to ~$18?
VRM increased in cost from ~$10 to ~$18 maybe $20
PCB cost increase from ~$10 to ~$15

Cooling (includes chipset fan I guess) increased from $10ish to ~$15 , note MSI is using about 50mm diameter Powerlogic fans

LAN looks to have increased as well which doesn't seem quite right since a Realtek 8111H is used on x570 Gaming Plus

X470 total = $100 vs X570 total ~$130-135ish

so apparently LAN cost twice, is there even any evidence for that?

Thanks for that interesting chart. Costs have not gone up as much as I thought. I suppose the VRM and PCB cost increases are due to the loads imposed by the 12 and 16 core CPUs. Dunno why anyone would put a premium CPU on an entry level board but you just know someone will. Heh. I guess MSI got tired of their boards catching on fire.

There isn't as far as I am aware. Given that the cheapest X570 board MSI sells with Intel LAN is the Gaming Edge for around $200 I wouldn't believe them as far as the LAN part...

The VRM hasn't been drastically improved on their low end X570 , other manufacturers such as ASUS and Gigabyte probably need to tack on at least $15-20 on their BoM (Bill of Materials) for 12 powerstages (Gigabyte especially since it's doubled rather than "teamed") on the $200+ MSRP boards.
Discrete mosfets are anywhere from $0.15-$0.30 each , powerstage typically $1-2 each for less expensive ones.

4c029n (used on MSI X570 low end) https://octopart.com/search?q=4c029n

The additional VRM costs incurred by MSI for X570 Gaming Plus are mainly the doublers (4x just for VCORE , each is around $0.50) and more expensive IR35201 PWM (~$3.50).

Before launch I speculated an additional ~$50 per board across the stack, MSI slides suggest around $40 with their relatively minor VRM improvement.

I buy this for certain boards.

I'll give Asus credit they have a monster VRM on the Hero up.

Gigabyte has a monster controller and a true 12 and 14 phase.

MSI is more traditional but still pretty amazing doubled VRMs.

Other then a fan though I'm not seeing a whole TON of extra costs unless we are just talking about the chipset. My master has great IO although I wish they'd drop the realtek and just give me two Intel LANs or save me ten bucks and give me one. Just me though.
