When was the most recent update for x370 boards? I know a few months after release there was an update that fixed it for some people, but many others like me never got their G skill flare X 3200 ram to run at specified speeds, and had to manually down clock it.

I'm guessing this is an issue that didn't persist with later Ryzen chipsets, or did it?

I'm probably just gonna wait 1 more year. I'm not a brand fanboy either, so I might consider one of Intel's new chips. It just depends on price to performance ratio, as well as availability. I don't know what Intel plans on dropping in 2020 for desktop CPUs, but I'll consider it. All I know is they seem to be sand bagging on 10nm chips they promised us years ago.

We might see Gen 3 in about six months or mid next year. Based on the performance of TR3, it may completely eliminate the disadvantage that comes inherent with the Infinity Fabric. It is expected to have an 8% IPC and 200MHz improvement from Gen 2.

Unless you are changing res or going higher hz, then you are sitting pretty with your current card. Gaming @ 1440p, your cpu is a non factor.

If it's any use, i upgraded my 1600 to a 3600 and i noticed the gains immediately.
1440p but on a Vega 56.
Motherboard is a b350 Msi Gaming Pro Carbon and i never had any issues running at 3200.
Not with GSkill though and only CL16 but i have yet to try CL14.

How much stronger than the 1600x would that be? 15-20%?

The next PC I build is gonna be a 4k gaming rig, if there isn't a GPU releasing in a year that can run new, demanding games at 4k 60fps, then I'll probably keep my 1080ti until there is a single GPU that can. I figure it would need to be a GPU at least twice as powerful as a 1080ti to do it.

At what clocks/res? I did not notice any gains while testing a 3600 stock vs my 1600 at 4ghz (1440p144hz 2070S and a 1080ti; 3200c14 Bdie)? I really only played a handful of games though (and nothing like Civ 5/FC5/Sekiro, which look like the games where Zen 2 stretches its legs the most).
