New Build Issues

New build, having a bunch of weird issues but related I'm sure.

Specs:

Ryzen 3 3200G
Gskill 16gb Ram
Gigabyte B450M S2H
TX650 PSU - Old
AMD 120g SSD - Old

So as you can see super simple budget build for my sister, mainly for internet + her kids playing LoL.

I know the SSD and PSU are old, but they have been proven reliable in other systems.

Issues:

- A few BSOD CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT
- Windows update wont update any of the drivers, so GPU driver is Microsoft Basic Display Adaptor
- Hangs often just around Windows 10 - Sometimes requiring a hard reset (but often without a BSOD)
- General weirdness about it, like taking ages to install things etc
- Once upon hard restarting it wouldnt even post bios, no beep nothing, just have a single white _ on the screen for ever, at that point even holding down the power button would turn it off, I had to switch the PSU off.
- After the weird post freezing, I pulled the ram and put in again and it posted/booted again.

I have run Prime95 for about an hour on it with no issues if that helps.

Whats the best place to start

There are many versions of the TX650 the oldest one being 12 years and the newest one being 3 years so which one do you have?
If you have the newest version that is 80 plus gold rated you can keep but if you have any other version replace it it might have been reliable on old systems but it might not be in the new system

Try another PSU if you have an extra or can borrow one

Its one of the older ones I think, been soo good for so long.

I have plenty of other PSUs to test though so will breadboard it with one of those for a bit.

Swapped over to a new PSU same issues as before.

The freezing has increased (requires a hard reset each time) and also had a bunch more BSOD Watchdog Timeout, here is one from Bluescreenview:

011720-10140-01.dmp 17/01/2020 10:52:28 AM 0x00000101 00000000`00000030 00000000`00000000 ffffd000`afa8e180 00000000`00000002 ntoskrnl.exe ntoskrnl.exe+14cc20 NT Kernel & System Microsoft® Windows® Operating System Microsoft Corporation 10.0.10240.16384 (th1.150709-1700) x64 ntoskrnl.exe+14cc20 C:\Windows\Minidump\011720-10140-01.dmp 4 15 10240 285,272 17/01/2020 10:53:03 AM

ntoskrnl.exe is the only one showing up each time, although some dumps are blank.

Did a bit of research on that and people say could be driver issues, I checked device manager and missing two drivers as below:

PCI Encryption/Decryption Controller - Hardware ID: PCI\VEN_1022&DEV_15DF&SUBSYS_15DF1022&REV_00

Unknown Device - Hardware ID: ACPI\AMDIF030

But Windows update still wont work, so I manually downloaded the Gigabyte drivers, tried to installed but BSOD each time, trying again now in safe mode.

Managed to get both PCI Encryption/Decryption Controller & ACPI\AMDIF030 installed using driver easy software.

Still hanging all the time and BSOD (Watchdog as always).

I can't make it through chipset installation, closest I got was 26%, and windows update still not working.

Tried in safemode which does seem to be stable, however the chipset installer doesnt like it getting either a "detection software failed" or "driver not signed failure".

Chipset installer also sometimes pops up saying "UnKnow AM4 CPU Type" but still continues after you click ok.

I dont have any DD4 ram so I can't swap that out to test, it did however pass a memory test no problems.
