Looking to build a new pc soon and I know mostly what i want but not sure if ill do 3700x or the 3900, but heres the build links https://pcpartpicker.com/list/FxPWf9 https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ZKdTPn I have a 1440p 144 hz monitor and evga 1070ti gpu , and i want to be able to max out my stuff at 144 hz and do 4k someday at like 65 to 100 hz, im not sure if for gaming if the benefit of going to the 3900x is there

The Intel 660P is that cheap because its using QLC NAND flash and can in some use cases be slower than even an HDD which is why its so cheap
Any of these are going to much better https://www.overclock.net/forum/355-...2-toshiba.html

As for gaming the 3900x is a little better but not by huge amounts and the higher the resolution the less the CPU will matter
As for 4K with a GTX 1070 Ti in new games just no its nowhere near powerful enough for that

Edit: and pick another PSU what you picked is an overpriced ripoff at $120 and not all that great and for the same money or less you can buy a Seasonic Foucs GX and you dont need a 750 watt a 650 watt is more than enough power

The Fractal Design Ion+ 660 watt is $110 on newegg so the RM is about the worst option in that price range
https://www.newegg.com/fractal-desig...-022-_-Product

32 GB of RAM is also overkill for gaming by the way and unless the games will be streaming you dont need that much

I should had mention I do plan to stream games on this build, Idk if that should affect the cpu choice though, as for the psu good catch, Its been years since I been up on psus and a friend of mine was saying corsairs improved greatly and I should buy it, but the one you linked looks very good, and ill look further into other m.2 options, and for my gpu ill carry it over for another year or maybe 2 then upgrade that to what ever top Nvidia Evga option there is at that time unless the one this year impresses me so much.

With Ryzen 3xxx sweet spot is 3600MHz - 3800MHz RAM and the tightest timings you can afford. That is where your're going to increase the majority of your performance. Unless those DIMMS you listed are B-dies and you intend on overclocking them.

The RM is a worse downgraded version of the RMx sold for exactly the same price instead of being cheaper so its the worst thing you can buy
Take your pick between the Corsair RMx the Seasonic Focus GX or the Fractal Design Ion+ none of the 3 are bad options and give the RM the middle finger at the price its being sold at its a ripoff

Sounds like a good plan, I'll choose between the 3 and give the RM the middle finger, figuretively of course haha, the build I have now has been around since i rebuilt it in October of 2017, has a ryzen 1600 and 16 gb of 2400hz ram, the case and psu in that build are from 2015 the inwin and evga g2 psu, which if i remember right back then you helped me out with that too, its just been so long since ive been in the psu market ive noticed things have changed some.

I dont intend on overclocking the ram, not sure if ill do so for the cpu, debating if ill go the hi100 route or stock cool it

Up to you if you want to get a 3900X. The extra 4 cores technically should help with encoding but that depends on what bitrate you'll be streaming at. It's a pretty large expense though.

SSD I swapped to a far faster one. RAM I put in a set-XMP-and-forget kit. Case I swapped to one with better airflow characteristics.

I'd probably get a heatsink like a Scythe Fuma 2 or Noctua NH-U14S and also get two 140mm front intake fans.

I did not intend to OC either that is why I made sure I at least invested in 3600MHz RAM with the tightest timings that I could afford. Cheap RAM at that, see Fast n' Cheap rig in sig.

How long do you foresee staying with your build? If short term then 3600/3700x should be fine especially if using NVsync/OBS.

If staying with it for a while and doing encoding with the CPU/OBS then 3900x.
