Feedback on new build

Hello!

It's about time I upgrade this FX8350 build to Ryzen.

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/CNnGHB

The build is going to be used for some gaming but mostly for work. I'm a web designer so I tend to have a bunch of browser tabs/windows open, Photoshop, illustrator, WAMP, linux VMs, etc. I'm going to keep my existing PSU and graphics card since the graphics card is not too old and should be good.

Trying to keep the budget under $1,600. But I'm open to suggestions or different components.

Thanks!

Your existing PSU while not bad is 10 years old and its long out of warranty so if you want to re-use be aware of the risk
Buy a new PSU for a new build

Whoops, I forgot to update that. My PSU actually did go bad last year. I got a Corsair RM850x to replace it.

There is a glitch where the sig dont show as updated even if you updated it you need to remove the rig from your sig save then re-add it and save before it will update
As for the PSU never mind in that case

As for your list does pcpartpicker.com is down on my end so i cant even see what parts you picked
edit: never mind it was my VPN blocking pcpartpicker

Have you or anyone had experience with OLOy? I've heard the name before but I'm not sure on the quality.

I've used a couple kits. Run at rated speeds. Not sure on long term quality but they seem to be a good company so far.

Wife used a set of 3200 mhz 16gb RGB Oloy Warhawks for a few weeks. She took my case 14 g.skill RGB set though

Hello~
This is what i came up with, after long back and forth
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/VrmCtp
Went first for a Black and White build, with white RGB ballistix
Switched to 4x8gb viper 4400C19-19 kits for OCing
Tried builds with the ASRock creator as 10gbit and thunderbolt will benefit you when it comes to NAS or TB3 peripherals
(Multi-4K monitors, Good soundcards, portable storage)
But i always overshoot near 1700 range

Played a bit with CLCs which speaking of - don't cheap out on mixed metal gear
If you go with all in ones, go with proper ones
Your 3 options are:
Alphacool Eisbaer Aurora
- https://www.alphacool.com/shop/sets-...pu-digital-rgb
Swiftech H360 X3
- http://www.swiftech.com/drive-x3-aio.aspx
Or just to wait
- there is no reason to buy now, unless you "need" to upgrade. Upcoming 2 months will likely continue to tech-silence
2 more full copper AIOs are awaiting us, but we won't see anything till end of Mai, mid June

The same goes for remain important parts:
- Cheap boards like the X370 Taichi can't ship
- Cases from Taiwan and Singapore (main producing locations) including gear from Phanteks are on hold
- Getting good cooling components are extremely hard to find, and most of them take 4 weeks to be delivered (Alphacool gear for example)
- Ram is a bit overpriced right now (about 10$ each 8GB too much, around 18-20$ each 16gb dimm)
But in all honesty, i know you want to go for looks - just don't take the mixed metal path, it's not worth the downtime in the future

My advice would be the Swiftech AIO without even thinking, not only because it's regionally available
But it's also not pure garb*ge
Although i'd suggest alphacools resolve more, just keep in mind that you will have to wait for this peripherals to arrive

About the maximum budget
With this linked list i hit ~1630$, as my focus here was to get a board with at least International Rectifier (IR) mosfets & VRMs
(need to factor another 40-50$ for 3 fans and daisy chain 5v RGB cable - because RGB is expensive)
Because even up to the Taichi, the x570 asrock boards are cheapen out gear which is not worth paying 100$ extra just for pcie 4.0
Soo right now this is the least i can recommend,
else if you aren't going the IR route for premium boards ~ my suggestion is to get a used X370 Taichi or CH6
It's just not worth it to spend that much money for mediocre boards (you can grab a B450 Tomahawk Max instead)
The easiest suggestion would be the Gigabyte Auros Pro, wouldn't it's dual bios be pure nightmare for OCing >_>
(get your stuff together gigabyte)

Technically you can stay on that build and your Extreme4 board
Maybe it's even possible to fit in 2 sets of 4400CL19-19 Viper Steels instead of the crucials (let's not think about hynix kits)
But then you can also just grab the Asus TUF, or the X570 Prime Pro white and go full B&W build
At the end, the most annoying part is parts availability, second the fashion issues with such type of cases and a bit overpriced gear
It's just not worth it to go x570 and pay >100 extra for a tiny bit of boost without quality VRM boards

And while we play the waiting-at-home game, we can just wait out 4th gen which is nearby
What are your plans for the build ~ timeframe wise ?
