M2 SSD crashed, lost all data

Sharkoon TG5 RGB case
Gigabyte X570 AORUS MASTER motherboard (latest BIOS, F12e from Gigabyte Tweaktown)
G.SKILL F4-3600C16D-16GTZN
AMD Ryzen 9 3900X cpu with BeQuiet Dark Rock Pro 4
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Gaming OC 11G graphics card
Samsung 970 Pro M.2 NVMe 512GB ssd
Toshiba DT01ACA300 3TB hdd
Fractal Design ION+ 660W Platinum psu

I just booted my computer and everything was gone, all my Windows partitions, everything. *** happened!!

I regret every investment I have made in AMD and their ****ty buggy X570 platform. From day 1 to now I have only had problems instead of a normally working PC. I should have never made the move from Intel to AMD. My experience with AMD's X570 is horrifying.

I'm gonna try to re-install Windows (if at all possible).

Sorry for me ranting, but I'm really pissed.

In what way did the drive crash? Was it a BSOD? Was it during boot or in Windows?

Was/is your RAM overclocked?

RAM is overclocked yes, not even to its full potential.. it's clocked at 3466MHz instead of the stated 3600MHz. Could that be the cause for my M2 SSD not to boot anymore?

If your SSD is still showing up in BIOS and you can format it and re-install the OS on it, it did not crash and is functional.

If that is the case, something else caused the drive to get wiped or corrupted.

It could be the Windows OS itself imploded for some reason only Microsoft would know (it happens more often than you think, I do IT support in a large company), or motherboard hardware corrupted the drive.

Sorry for your frustration, it sucks to have this kind of issue.

Unstable RAM OC can easily mess with your EFI partition and render the boot drive completely useless (unless you use gpart to rebuild the EFI partition; windows startup repair would probably only work with a previous snapshot). Happened to me once when I was overclocking my previous RAM kit and I decided to just reinstall Windows. It was time for a fresh install anyway since I had cloned it from my previous drive.

You still haven't answered my question: Did the crash occur while Windows was loading or were you already at the desktop/in a game?

Did a fresh installation of W10, cut the power off for a moment, put everything back on and it managed to boot up again. Everything's gone now though. :'( I'm going to call it a day. I'll update y'all tommorow.

It does usually take a disaster to motivate and unfortunately this seems like a good enough opportunity. Once you've got it back to where you were make an image of the SSD and throw it onto a HDD. Always have a backup

Must >>>>>HAVE<<<<< been.

It doesn't take much, just a BSOD while booting with sketchy timings and poof. The partition is gone. Gotta love drive corruption. Errr...hate. Hate drive corruption.
