That would be it thumb.gif Too bad you just had 7 on your pc you could of ran a few benchmarks to see if there is any margin for improvement on Windows 8 over Windows 7. tongue.gif Maybe when I get the time I will run a few benchmarks on clean installs of both OS's.

I just tried that on a laptop with win7 and 8 dual boot. The answers are not pretty!!! SAME WEI score for both! When I put in my SSD for my PC the only change in score was the disk transfer rate. Huh?

Oh and as a pros and cons thing for win 8;

Dont like the start screen it is messy and very basic looking, can this be user customised to include a theme of icons?
IE9 is absolutely foul looking again basic and I cant get my nav bar at the top, I hate it at the bottom!
I like the little screen blind with the time on when you're not logged on however, it's not really functional.
Going to have a play and see how well it customises I'll try icon packager and see what I can dig up and post a pic of my win7 deskto V's win8

Cant change the colour, size or theme backgreound or virtualy anything on the metro interface it is shat!! windows 8 is the same as 7 without it and logging in on msn and all that crap is something i would hate!! cant even be bothered to punctuate this as windows 8 is soooo lame the end

Found a bug/problem, when you clean install windows. The internet options is automatically setup to detect network settings. This will make programs like google chrome check for proxy settings on every page load. You will know this is happening if you open chrome and notice it takes a minute before it actually loads up google (resolving proxy... lower left). To fix this just follow these steps.

  • Windows Charms -> Settings -> Control Panel
  • Type in "Internet" in the search box and click "Internet Options"
  • Go to the "Connections" tab and click "Lan settings"
  • Uncheck "Automatically detect settings" and click "Ok"
  • Fixed! You can close out of all the windows

I doubt there is any place faster then direct links from Microsoft. The other day when I downloaded it I was getting around 700-800kb/s through chrome so I installed the trial of Internet Download Manager just to download the ISO and it caped out my net at 1.25mb/s. I would recommend a manager over anything as well as it checks for file hash so the download is legitimate, also Microsoft's URL support resume. Well worth the uninstall later.

Sorry I erased the username part entirely I didn't like how it looked in the corner lol

I think it's actually better for power users once you remove the "metro" apps. Works better than the start menu. I love how it only uses about 70% as much RAM as Windows 7/Vista
