Hi,
Snip and sketch.

I'm using the win-7 snipping tool now I never like the win-10 snipping tool frankly
It always made you use new snip after opening it
7's is activated as soon as it's opened just the way it's supposed to work.

Mine is broken. First thing I did after it updated to 1903 was remove Cortana from the start bar now it's separate from search, then I though I'd look in settings>apps and see what else it allowed to remove. Settings>apps won't open, it just closes settings. I didn't do anything, no scripts or other questionable techniques to change things, it was a clean untouched Win10 pro. I think I might start crying

Hi,
Yep settings/ apps always crashes
You can get to apps from system/ storage though
After the settings/ apps might not crash again until restart...

Basic bug got past quality control is just typical of them not really even using builds they release

That worked, and I was able to remove groove music, which for some reason annoyed me more than anything else - Thanks.

Hi,
Yeah I always use a group script to remove all default apps
Usually there is only a couple that fall though to gap of the script and I have to do them separately once I see which ones got left behind
This time it was snip and sketch and virtual reality portal that needed manual uninstalling.

Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers | where-object {$_.name -notlike "*store*"} | Remove-AppxPackage

Hey folks.

I will be upgrading my rig, changing from FX-8320 to a R7 1700.

Is there any way, to find all installed drivers, and the devices they were associated with?
Trying to get the old stuff removed before/after upgrading.

Dont really wanna do a full format, its a work rig as well.

So I posted this in the SSD thread but I seem to have gotten no response.

So here goes. Has anyone noticed a decrease in boot times on 1809? Particularly us plebs who have 7.5" SSD's or standard M-SATA drives. In my case an 850 Pro 1TB. I imagine those on NVM-e drives are like looking down on me, "Pathetic! Our drives barely flinch at an update"

So my rig usually boots from power button to windows log on screen in around 7-10 seconds. This is including about a 3 second bios timeout so I can get into BIOS if need be. The windows loading circle manages about half a rotation before it loads into windows.
Glary utilities usually reports around 15-18 seconds in the main screen.

Now I have recently noticed that my boot times have gotten substantially slower. Power on to Windows can sometimes take up to a minute but usually averages about 45 seconds. Glary Utilities reports over a minute. Like seriously.

* I have gone so far as to secure erase my 850 Pro not once not twice but three times. Along with three fresh installs on windows.

* I have Crimson 19.5.2 (I think)
* I am on 18.10 for my 990FX sata drivers (latest version) but I have tried as far back as 16.7.2. 17.4 and 16.xx give me the best SSD performance with regards to read/writes and random IOPS performance but did little to improve boot time.

* I have disabled most of my start up programs. All I have enabled is Bitdefender Free, Realtek audio, Ai Charger and AiSuite 2. That's it! Most of my Non microsoft services are disabled as well.

* I have tried enabling and disabling fast boot in BIOS and windows. Enabled by default.

* Not that it has ever been a problem before, but I enlarged my hyberfile.sys to default from 50%.

* Power options are set to high performance with some options there being changed. Mostly to CPU min state.
* I thought Bitdefender Total Security was causing the issue. So I removed it and just installed free edition. Did not change much. Improved a little bit but still in the 35 second range.

* I checked my drive is plugged into SATA 0 (or 1 depending on how you look at things. but the first slot.)
*At first with all my games installed I had about 300GB still free on my SSD. But boot times have not improved even with the drive almost empty.
* I have run the registry defrag tool in Glary Utilities.
* Junk Files cleaner in Glary
* Registry Repair in Glary
* Check System files and Check disk in Glary.

* Used Ccleaner clean up
* Used Ccleaner registry repair and clean up
* I have not run windows update yet, But I have configured it to notify my for download and install in group policy manager. But before I started all this troubleshooting my Windows was up to date. (I think)

The only thing that I can think of being is that something is up in 1809

I am at my wits end. A slow boot time is the most frustrating thing in the world when you have an SSD and fast boot times are supposed to be a thing.

Hi,
Boot speed has dropped on every build since 10 was released.
Doubt it will get better seeing all the app bookmarking suspending stuff so the apps pick up where one left off.

Anything we can do to speed. It up? By disabling these services, apps and all this stuff?

Didn't notice anything here, also if you run Intel, thank them for a CPU full of security holes and each patch slowing them down...
