I've started having this issue since the recent Creators? update where Steam will randomly be unclickable. If I click steam on the taskbar then try and interact with anything in the window it will act as if the window isn't on screen and click the window behind it. Only through a combination of alt tabbing between various windows and sometimes closing steam will it be able to be clicked on. It reverts back to clicking through the window pretty much instantly though if I click off steam again and back again.

Does anyone know a fix for this or know why it's happening? It's really beginning to infuriate me.

Hey do you have steam setup to accept beta builds or is this just the most latest official build of steam? I can suggest giving the beta builds a try if you do not have that setup as it may fix your issue:

More info found here:

I am on Beta builds with the most recent windows 10 update and I do not have this issue so it may help you as well! Come back and let us know whats up.

Thanks~
Surp

No, I don't think so. The only beta I have opted into on Steam has been the recent update to CS:GO so I could play the new map, but I have opted out of that now that the map has been released and the issue has still persisted. Thank you though. I do believe I am using the most recent official version of Steam.

Edit: I am not using any beta builds of Windows 10. I was using them previously on another system but I am only on current builds now.

Do you mean launching steam from close causes this?

I know if i load the calculator from a keyboard shortcut it will load in the background, but that has always happened(on all builds as far as I know). That problem has a registry work around.

I am not sure if it is related, but it may be worth a look.

No, just clicking on a window then attempting to click on steam will cause it to happen seemingly at random. I've only had this issue recently and it has only been on the recent update.

I will keep an eye on out my steam, but I am not on it too much these days.

I still think you should opt in for the beta builds of steam and try that and see if it fixes it. Worst thing that would happen is you would have to reinstall steam (Not the games just steam client itself).

So far, I have not come across this issue.

I am not on Beta, but my fall update seems to have some of its own issues I have to look at.

Beta steam can not hurt smile.gif

Well roughly 10 minutes into using the beta for steam I am faced with the same issue. :/
