The ones in MS store I believe...maybe not everyone of them but I know some indeed do not work on 7.
The DX12 that was supposed to revolutionize gaming fell flat so those of us that got accustomed to 10 and learned how to make it our own basically waster our time. Now I'm on it, I've figured it out so I'm here lol
Plus MS is preventing the install of 7 on newer CPUs, I don't know the specifics but there are ways around it. They're trying is the point.

Only very very few games attempted to be supported only on Windows 10, but yes, there are some. Also there are really only few reasons why to prefer Win10 over Win7...

Then there are games which support dx12, but its not as widely adopted as MS would like to see.

I was looking at getting a Windows tablet for work and the first thing I did was check whether I could install Linux on it. I dislike Ubuntu and love Mint but I'd rather use Ubuntu than Win Spy.

I don't think they will be getting rid of being able to buy and own windows any time soon. We will continue to have our local installed and owned versions of windows for another decade or more.

If anything this is MS gearing up to combat Chrome OS. MS needs a Chrome OS style of OS that is easily managed via the cloud for mass deployment. One of the biggest reasons why Chrome books have taken a liking to schools is the fact they are easy to manage as a whole.

Honestly I've been expecting a Cloud based windows for a long time now. MS is behind on this. Add it into the 365 suite and schools would easily move back to MS. I've used google Doc's, it sucks. Honestly would rather use Office online. MS is missing out on yet another cash cow.

They can't afford to push this on everyone. They have more competition now. The moment the blood is in the water, the sharks will circle.

What competition? Linux and Apple? Not happening. Windows is very entrenched. People have been saying they will bail for years, and they still haven't. As much as I hate to admit it if you want to do real work or need real triple a apps and programs Windows is all there is. Games = Windows, Major software i.e. Adobe, Office, Autocad, Solidworks = Windows. The other 2 don't stand a chance unless Microsoft really blows it. I expect the Windows crowd will boo hoo about this all day long but at the end of the day, they will keep bending over letting MS do whatever they want. Most can't afford to dump Windows.

Hell even me, I use linux exclusively. Every computer in my home is linux except for the wifes. I even will have to buy a copy of Windows for my laptop. Is the only way I can help out with volunteer work I do, they simply don't use anything else.

I'm quite curious how MS can hold the entire world fairly hostage to Windows and no one cares. Governments, people.... no one at all seems to give a damn.

Microsoft has never tried to irritate customers like this service movement before. The more they push the more they get people like the Windows 7 users not transitioning(And the numbers are not really moving past a certain point). All the competition needs is one good alternative. Apple has never really begun to exist outside of its own hardware and Linux Desktops are not polished. Which leaves Google if you believe it or not. Its been working on its own custom OS outside of Android/ChromeOS. A stumbling Microsoft could be just what it takes to push into the desktop space like they did in the education space(ChromeOS is killing it there).

There are probably enough who remember how it was before MS and Intel standardized computing and made it so basically all computers could work with each other and triple A software and hardware could be profitably made due to a largely unified mass market.

Not that I'm against competition, I just don't mind the dominance of windows since it has done much more good than harm, and MS seems pretty benevolent for holding a near monopoly. They could have done all sorts of stuff to quash the competition and seem to be taking the road of trying to be better at bringing the general market what it wants.
Worrying about legal action likely played a role in this, but the net results exist nonetheless and I don't see a change in the balance of power of govts vs MS that would indicate any drastic increase in anti consumer or anti competitive practices on the part of MS.

And I don't have a problem with people preferring Linux, or with admitting that most of those Linux users likely know much more about software than I. But I will stick with the easiest version of Windows that does what I want because I would rather spend my tinkering time budget on hardware stuff.
