Hi,
I hate to ask an obvious question; Can I buy a full win 10 home ver on amazon or the main windows site , and do a fresh install on a newly built PC?

Yeah. It might be easier than that.
If you already have a valid Windows license, any installation media will do.
Just Install Windows and type in your valid key.
Your version will be updated by Microsoft the next time your connect to the internet.
This works even with some older Windows versions.
You can pull down a copy of the Windows 10 installation ISO here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10ISO. Burn it to CD or make a bootable thumbdrive and you're good to go.

Yeah.
You're just buying the license.
But if you have an old copy of Win7 or Win8 around that's not currently installed on a PC, you can try that key first.

I buy my keys off ebay for like $10, much cheaper than amazon. The only issue is they have like 4-5 activations before they no longer work...but for the price? Can't beat it.

Then I download the ISO directly from Windows: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10ISO

Make a quick usb installer, use your code during install and that's it!
