It was going to be next month, I think, but since it made roughly half of the computers upgrading unable to boot, they delayed it again. I have SP2 RC2 installed right now with no problems.
Yeah, there's about a 50% chance of killing your install. But my 3dMark03 score went up about 3000 (~9.5K to ~12.5K) on my 6800GT. I think it's because clock settings don't really take under SP1, but I have no idea why.
Edit: Now that I look at it more, I'm beginning to think SP2 "breaks" 3DMark '03. There's no other reason for there to be a jump that high, unless they really optimized the **** out it, which I doubt.
I am running service pack 2, and after i disabled the new security features (that anooyed the crap outer me) I notice no difference, except they have moved some buttons around, and made windows update a little different.
as for performance boost??? well i dont see it, same as dx9c, no change either.
might benefit newer hardware, like the latest gfx card.
if you havnt got the latest hardware, then i would wait untill u really need to install these updates.
I could be wrong, and sp2 may be the best thing since sliced bread, but i could be right and its just Bill repackaging the same crap.
Moving buttons??? why??? is it a game, find the button?
