I like the red too, it all looks pretty good so far. Smaller than I'd have expected too.

Thanks Yeah I condensed it a bit lol. Updated the bios this morning, still no ports in W7. I could plug the SSD into another computer, put the LGA 775 back temporarily to install the driver, run a linux live stick, or just wait for my 970 evo to arrive. But it says that's gonna take til next Tuesday so maybe I'll try the other options

Tried putting the drivers into Windows 7 but that didn't work, so I used a Linux live stick. Funny how Mint with a 2GB install could have the right drivers built in but Windows with like 35GB doesn't, lol. Finally has working USB ports. The wifi didn't work at 5.5 but once I bumped the OC to 5.6, it worked. Odd

Here are the idle and load temps using 5C water and the Linux stress command, at 5.5 1.40V. Works pretty well! I love how there is only a 5C difference in core temps, unlike my 7980XE where it's a 20-25C difference that limits its potential OC. This solder works pretty well, idk what people were complaining about lol, idle temps are only 2-5c more than water temp!

5.6 requires pushing voltage to 1.6V for stability, a pretty huge jump.

This CPU is ice cold compared to my 7980XE lol, now that thing is ready to melt down

Next step is to add insulation and ethanol

Not sure if you had mentioned it before, but surely you must be thinking about a future update to adapt and/or expand the chiller for the 7980XE (and may be GPU) ?

No, my 7980XE build is nice and pretty and put together and not a pile of junk in the corner besides, I need at least one functional computer that I don't risk blowing up (much) lol. I did OC it in the garage at one point, with 4C water it got up to around 4.7, so I wasn't terribly impressed with it. Too pricey to risk blowing up :O

At some point I may move my main rig to Threadripper 3, so the 7980XE/R6A may go into "test mode" then I may move it to Linux then use the 9900K/Titan RTX for a full time gaming rig optimized for single thread performance.

Good plan...I hope AMD does bring out the Threadripper version of the 7nm 64c/128t (Epyc server version of that being sampled right now), but even an updated 7nm 32c/64t with IMC and infinity fabric updates should be nicely complementing a Titan RTX build...

We will see how the 7nm overclocks, 64 cores will put out some crazy heat

I would also like to work in a Titan V and a cube case somehow... not sure yet lol
