I think I may have used the wrong words for the title... But I'm finally actually getting somewhere with some form of programming/scripting. That is scripting for arma 3. I am trying to be the first person to run a server with a currently non existent game mode. (not gunna tell, don't want someone to steal what is driving me)

I wonder, besides something like having a job and being payed, has programming done anything for you? Something like, you've made your own website and get a happy amount of views or a sql database or some sort of game that other people have enjoyed. Maybe you could tell a little story on how it has benefit you or been worth it to program, what it is, how long, etc.

benefits outside of programming (general life):
  • logical thinking
  • breaking a problem down in to small chunks
  • a great hobby!
  • Gain understanding of why certain things work the way they do (websites, programs, etc)

benefits in computing / work / tasks related to programming
  • speed up repetitive tasks
  • complete tasks that would otherwise be impossible in a realistic time frame
  • have automated tasks so I no longer have to worry about something
  • edit other programs and the way they run, add features etc.
  • exposure to related topics (anytime you learn something new, it will help you learn more stuff so i guess this applies to everythin!)

I really wished there was a way to sort my inventory in the game Kings and Heroes, and since they use Coherent ui, I was able to add my own sorting button and algorithm.

I had issues with GTA5 , and there was a bug in their Support Request form that prevented me from putting in a ticket. I figured out the issue and did a little hack around the issue, and wrote a ticket for my issue, and a ticket about the Request Bug.

When something goes wrong on my computer, i have a MUCH better idea on whats happening.

DOWNSIDE: I always see the imperfections and stupid things they did.
