Just buy the RTX 2070 Super, it comes out in 2-3 days, and beats a 1080 ti, at $499 shipped.

Benches I seen show Rtx 470 super performing slightly slower then the 1080Ti

Best thing the rtx470 super will do, is push the Gtx 1080ti value down to around $300 making it superb bang for your buck.

None of the reviews I have seen show 1080 ti beating 2070 SUPER in anything... well it's an exact tie for a lot of games actually, but 1080 ti only wins twice in these reviews, and even then by only 3 fps. 80% of games 2070 super wins, sometimes by a few, sometimes by a solid 10-15 in a couple games, but mostly it's dead even. no reason to buy a 1080 ti anymore unless prices come down. rtx is just icing the cake since i might use it someday.

This, the 2070 super is a solid card (what nV should have released the first time around).
