Are there any major differences between the SNES version and GBA version? I had fun with the SNES version, but after all this time I want to get back to it on the GBA.

GBA version:
  • Better sprites and backgrounds
  • 4 extra classes: necromancer, oracle, gladiator, cannoneer
  • bonus dungeon
  • music quality is worse because of GBA's sound chip (imho)

No, the sound quality would still be worse.

FFVI sound restoration: http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/657/

The FFVI patch is even better than the FFV one, in my opinion. I don't know of any sound patches for FFIV though.
