I thought, hey! How about a thread to post all the cool things we find, that don't really fit anywhere else. That make you say "HEY! Why did no one tell me about this!"

Me first: http://www.lunascape.tv/ It is like 3 types of browser in one. It should be able to download all the internets!

Welcome to my thread, look around, gather some cool programs and share the neat things you have found in your travels.

Put the URL in if you can. Sometimes it is hard to tell which thing we are looking for smile.gif And it is the nice thing to do.

And thank you all for such great suggestions. This thread makes me happy . jpg smile.gif

Wow, this thread is still going. I never knew how needed and liked it would be.

Big thanks to legoman, he compiled this list of what we have gleaned so far. Join me in giving him a round of applause (an or rep tongue.gif

HTTPS everywhere = When ever there is a website that offers HTTP((((S))))) it will take you there instead of an unsecured site.

Smart video add on = It gives you greater control over youtube and other videos such as setting your OWN default resolution as well as a smart buffer that buffers the video before it plays.

Foobar 2000 = music player that plays flac files. It is extremely versatile and customizeable.

If you like to fix PCs and you have to do a fresh install of windows every other day for friends and family, then ninite is a great resource. It will let you select various programs to download and then makes a massive install file that you can download once rather than having to constantly monitor the PC.

Rain meter = puts a capitol P in Personal computer. Allows you to change the desktop into pretty much anything you want....period.

Gimp: interesting little paint like application that allows you to do things like make custom cursors and icons.

If you have been living under a rock, then I guess ram disk and start is back is worth mentioning.

Also.... Command Prompt. Everyone already has this program and yet very few people seem to take full advantage of it. Viruses, driver issues, and many more issues can be solved by use of command prompt and it just sort of gets ignored as a useful repair tool.

Ninite is getting bookmarked for life.

Thanks mate.

Pixresizer. Use it so much since I discovered it.

Single or batch image resizing/reformatting. Simple, lightweight, fast, freeware.

Another for why didn't anyone tell me about ninite - I have to load all the generic useful programs like java etc on to at least 3 or 4 PCs a week at work. and I only found out about it the other week!

This is a nice thread (;

Why didnt tell me about the possibility to force drivers and custom resolutions thru the
NVidia drivers for DX9 / DX10 / DX 11..

Why didn´t i know how easy it is to flash GPU´s with the Kepler Bios Tool in combination with
NVflash.. its like i can flash it 10 x in one hour directly from windows.

Why nobody toll me that a long-term relationship with a girl might waste your head?!
( No offense.. there´s still a small chance the girl is cool and your brain won´t start degrading )

Why didn't anyone tell me about Launchy!

Awesome tool to launch programs in Windows by typing what you want to start. Press Alt + Space (is configurable), type Chrome for example and hit enter and it starts immediately. Perfect for people who are using Windows 8 and hate the new interface or just want a bit more keyboard control in their OS. thumb.gif
