Great price for the caddy! biggrin.gif

Those tend to go for at least triple that from the retail stores. tongue.gif

Now that the next gen is out, I think that the time when a gaming laptop lasts 3 years is over frown.gif too much performance needed for the latest games

Hardly. The point of a performance priced gaming laptop was NEVER to max out games for 3 years. For the enthusiast branch, sure, but the mainstream models are capable of handling most games on high settings.

A 770M is the start of the upper tier GPUs and can play most games at highest settings without too much issue. The 765M is capable of high settings too... and can be easily overclocked too.

Any chance at getting a Richland or Trinity system south of $800 (laptop). These have been crazy for me to find.

Wow good thread....and yeah if you find time to update that would be awesome.

I am wondering how to calculate exactly how much VRAM is used. Mainly the new Nvidia 880Ms

GPU Engine Specs:
1536 CUDA Cores
954 + Boost Graphics Clock (MHz)
Memory Specs:
Up to 2500 MHz Memory Clock (MHZ)
GDDR5 Standard Memory Configuration
256-bit Memory Interface Width
160.0 Memory Bandwidth (GB/sec)

This was pulled from Nvidias site.
Every laptop manufacturer states these as having 8GB VRAM. And yet when researching most people laughed at that it seemed as the GPU most likely wouldn't use all that VRAM. So what formula is used to find out how much VRAM is actually used from a GPU?

Thanks for your response.

I don't think there's a specific formula for how much Vram is used. It depends on how well the game works and the game engine or something. That I'm not sure of.

Also, if I fair some spare time, I'll more than happily update this. xD
