Laptop docking

I am not very well versed in the field of laptops and I need the answer to a question regarding laptop docks. My parents want to get a Samsung Galaxy Book S from verizon, it's the only laptop they offer with a data plan. It has Win10 home but it has an ARM processor in it so it does not have thunderbolt support and it only has two usb-c ports for connectivity.

Is there a non thunderbolt docking solution that will work with windows 10 on ARM? I just need to find them something with 1 or 2 monitor outputs (hdmi is fine) and a few usb ports for mouse and keyboard.

I'd advise them to get something else if they absolutely need the dock, I think lack of ARM drivers is going to be a problem even with USB-C. Your best bet is to reach out to Samsung support and ask if there is an official dock that would support display out and other features.

If your parents only need additional USB ports any USB hub should still work though.

A cheaper option might be to look at an older workstation laptop like an HP Zbook/elitebook that have great docks available and slots for SIM cards. They are built like absolute tanks so I wouldn't be concerned about buying one used on ebay. Get one of those used for a few hundred $, add your own SIM card, profit

Well they already got it so it is what it is. They were replacing their dead Galaxy tablet and they wanted something that was as close to tablet sized as possible. The arm 64 thing is a little bit of a pain but it looks like usb-c docks can work, just not with multiple screens. I have a dock on loan from someone that I am going to test this weekend, it should work but who knows. It appears as though USB-C is a long was away from being a "standard", I will just have to test it and see if it works, samsung may not allow display out through usb-c like Asus does on it's non thunderbolt laptops.

Well I got it all working. The universal USB-C dock works for display out and it will charge at the same time. It's not a bad little laptop considering how small it is (smaller/lighter than my iPad pro with a keyboard), I was expecting it to be a bit of a turd considering that it's essentially tablet hardware running windows 10 home. I was able to get everything installed and running without any issues, but their software needs are minimal. I'm guessing that Microsoft has put a little effort into the ARM64 windows situation since their Surface Pro uses it.
