I have put a 480 rad in my Phantom before I mothballed it for Silentium. I was just going through my old logs and noticed. Good grief, LOL.
I had a good chuckle at this.

The more I play with this case the more I love it. And in the age of tempered glass everything and unicorn poop PC's I still think the Phantom 820 is a breath of fresh air.

So I am rebuilding GHOST at the moment. And I also bought another Phantom 820 that was used. I've used the second case mostly for spare parts and things.

Unfortunately over the course of five years my Phantom hasn't gotten away unscathed and was starting to show its age. So I set about restoring my Phantom.

I am still busy working on it but working on it just makes me love it so much. I have repainted my side panels and the top panel. And I am busy with the front panel. On my front panel there is that little cosmetic groove thing that runs along the hinge of the door. And the paint there over the years has rubbed off leaving the most horrible sticky substance behind. I've been sitting here for the last hour or so trying to figure out how I am going to sand that down and clean it for painting as it's got so many corners. I just discovered that the little groove thing is actually removable. So now I don't have to loose my mind over trying to paint it. Might just end up keeping this case for another 5 years. Or until NZXT gets their (alternative word for poop) together and decides to make a worthy successor to the Phantom.

I've been thinking about covering my case in Vinyl, and there are so many cool colors and patterns to choose from... Maybe carbon fiber or even a reflective vinyl, but I am not sure I want to go the shiny colorful route...lol

I was able to get this case for $60 shipped to me in open-box like new condition; although there were some plastic bits that broke in shipping, fortunately they were not parts i cared about.

used the white version of this case as a "base" for a hello kitty themed computer build for my daughter's first PC. this was mostly built from spare parts i had laying around, and I just added the decals and rhinestones.

specs are:

Supermicro X9DAi motherboard
2x Xeon E5-2670 v2 CPUs (20-cores/40-thread)
256GB ECC DDR3 RAM (16x16GB PC3L-12800R)
Nvidia GTX 1080 TI Founder's Edition
256GB kingston SSD (random stuff I had around) for boot drive
2x 3TB Western Digital RAID Edition SATA HDDs (more random stuff left over from old server) for mirrored set for data drive
Seasonic SS-760XP PSU

The E-ATX form factor of the X9DAi didn't quite fit the case. I had to drill some holes and tap threads into them to make additional stand-offs. The adjustable LED lights works well with the theme.

That's one hell of a PC to have built from parts just laying around...lol.

A while back I had taken all the panels off my case (sides, top, front) to clean it out real well. In the process I popped out the two buttons for the LEDs although I didn't know it at the time. A day later when cleaning up the area around the PC I found two plastic pieces that seemed like trash so I threw them out not realizing what they were. A couple weeks later I realized what they were.... so not to turn on either the RGB LEDs or the rear light I have to use a pencil or something similar...lol. I haven't looked to see if I could find those buttons anywhere yet.

Not new pictures. Since then we have had a new lick of matt black paint and it is looking FINE! But the interior hasnt changed. Case LEDs are white. just for reference I use them to light the inside. I am a potato photographer I feel like a blue intake grill on the front and the further-est back hexegon mesh at the top of the case. The same blue as the Corsair ML140 fans, the ones on my bottom rad and rear exhaust.

edit: some pics are sideways. Not sure how to edit this. The new OCN is still a mystery to me. Can't wait for the day they upgrade it.
