Hello friends, thanks for checking out my second build log on OCN!

The case this build is based around is a small form factor mITX case designed by OCN member She Loved E. It is number 21 in a limited run of cases built between April and November 2013.

Table of Contents:

  1. Component list and final build photos (Posts 2 and 3)
  2. First attempt at a Jarrah radiator stand
  3. Compact Splash delivered: Unboxing
  4. Initial build

Build log first post text V1.0 (Click to show)
Many thanks to She Loved E and to the very well known Dwood for the opportunity to own my own Compact Splash mITX chassis.

I have always found the idea of SFF computing to be very appealing and thought that one day i may give a water-cooled mITX or uATX build a go. Stoked that it is finally happening biggrin.gif

Pretty much the exact same watercooling I specced out for mine. Can't wait to see you working on it and figuring out all the hassles - I won't be able to start my build until June smile.gif

I might have the same problem, the case will arrive closer to the end of my university semester.. so i might not have much time free until after exams are over D: Haswell is set to launch in June I think.. and Australians get their tax returns back around the same time so i may even wait and get a shiny new 4670K and Z87 mobo.. who knows! thumb.gif Looking forward to see everyone's logs so much!

2x Laing DDC-1T pumps have been ordered from Bmaverick, so stoked i found out about him selling those.. got 2 shipped to me for less money than it would cost to just buy one anywhere in Australia.

For my reservoir i have decided to go with a Bitspower DDC Mini Water Tank Plus instead of the XSPC res. It looks nicer, and has a much better thought out inlet/outlet port layout.

I ordered 3 more EK 90 degree rotaries, 2 more 45s and some 10mm extenders this week and they came today, getting quite a nice amount of fittings!

Pumps from Bmaverick came last week, mayhems pastel white, watercool 7970 backplate, and a bunch of fittings came the week before and today the mailman brought me my bitspower res, duralene tubing, and more fittings all from sidewinder computers. Everything is now in my hands except for the case which i am eagerly awaiting.

Test ran the new motherboard yesterday... bad idea. I am hoping the fact that it gave me several blue screens and then refused to turn on is related to me not doing a fresh windows install... ive tested all my gear separately from the mobo and everything is fine. Now everything is back connected to my z68 extreme 4 working 100% and i am thinking i got given a dud mobo.. lucky i bought it locally warranty shouldn't be an issue.

I have also decided on quite a few changes to the build theme:

I think i counted about 4 other people who were planning on grey/white/blue themed compact splash builds confusedsmiley.png:... so that idea was quick to go!
An external radiator is being added to the loop in this configuration:

I bought an AX360 when i got the new mobo and the EX120, i was planning on making a base for it out of wood, probably Jarrah or Marri (native Australian timber). This has given me the idea to incorporate wood into the whole build. Hopefully this will allow me to make this build a bit more unique compared to just choosing a colour scheme for coolant and sleeving! biggrin.gif

How am I not SUBBED yet? wink.gif

Can't wait til you get the case.... looks like other than that and the mobo you're ready to go! You're not the only one who's had issues with that board. Brick & mortar stores ftw (thank goodness thats where you got it!)

Can't wait to see what you come up with to integrate wood. Should make for a really unique build. thumb.gif
