I have the GD-06 case and I am struggling a bit with the heat from my Zotac GTX 660. Under moderate load, it reaches 57oC and the heat is not evacuated well enough. It transfers to the case, the PSU (fan goes up and so does the noise) and the HDs (4 of them, reaching 45-50oC). So i am considering the GD-08 as it seems to have better cooling capacity.
So what sort of MB and HD temperature are you seeing with this case?
Thanks for any info!
Your welcome. I am in the middle of putting together a Case Club thread for the Grandia cases here on the forums. I might just possibly use this thread with the help of the mods to turn it into that.
Right now, everything stays very cool in this case. I have the 2 120mm fans upfront pulling air in. I have the 2 rear 80mm fans in the back pulling air out and on the side you can see I modified the optical drive cage so I can fit in the H60 water cooler for my CPU. That air pulls in too. If you take a look on the some of these pics, there is an exhaust vent towards the top of the case. I plan on mounting either another 2 80mm fans there or there is a PCI like slot above it but the fans I have found I've read are pretty bad. With zip ties, I might add those fans to the top with rubber mounts to exhaust.
I am also looking at 2 -120mm x 12mm fans to place one under the drive cage that I cut since the radiator is there and a regular 120mm won't fit there. On the left of the rad, I can't fit a reg 120mm so I need to place the second one in there.
I really like this case a lot and wish that Silverstone would of placed the optical drive to the right.
I had a 660 Ti FTW Sig 2 in this case for a week and the temps never got above 57 degrees. I have a EVGA GTX770 ACX being delivered today since I returned the 660 Ti last week since I only had it for 2 weeks. This card will be a true test in this case which might make me have to get those 80mm exhaust fans on the top of the case much quicker to expel heat.
My CPU due to the cooler when idle hovers from 29-34 degrees and when on load around 39-42 degrees. My CPU keeps pretty cool, I think the key there was getting the water cooler in here even though I had to modify the optical drive cage. I can always add an external DVD drive if need be. Personally, I would go with the GD08 from Newegg or Amazon since they have it on sale for $139 unless you find it cheaper elsewhere. I had the Fractal Design Node 605 for a week, while that case was excellent, it was smaller than the GD08.
