Thanks man that one looks small enough. Price is right too! High likelihood I'll be going with that one. Only thing I'd want would be a stand so it could be set up vertically without any fear of someone accidentally knocking it over. Maybe I can just make a little stand for it though.

One thing to note though, is that some of the GT 1030's with the taller (2 slot) passive heatsinks might not fit, the ones that are one slightly taller than single slot should be fine.

Yeah I was thinking about that. I'd really like to use one with a passive heatsink. I'm guessing you're referring to that EVGA DDR5 one that has the passive heatsink on it, which was the one I was planning on using. Maybe there's some way I could make it fit, even if I have to cut on the inside of the case a bit. If not, do you have another case recommendation? If I must, I can bump the budget up for the case just a bit. Maybe one of the others in that same product line?

Actually it looks like this one should just barely fit. But it'll still be a tight fit, so I'll have to have some decent cooling.

EDIT thought you said 1060 at first, 1030 doesn't need any power connector. Only requires 30w.

https://www.newegg.com/evga-geforce-...-358-_-Product

The case is just a piece of metal, does it support your mobo form factor?

The front will be USB 2.0 but the back will be whatever your mobo has available.
PSU:

The watts should work with that card, though it is a little below the requirement.
You need some kind of 6 pin connector for the 1060,as someone mentioned you can get an adapter for a few bucks. You might need a adapter for the mobo\CPU as well, specs below, match them up with your mobo to see.

There are other options, I like Neweggs for cases. You can edit what you want on the left. Price, form factor etc. This is a search with the lowest first. I went to the first page the shows an actual case.

https://www.newegg.com/Computer-Case...es&Order=PRICE

This case looks it will support micro itx according to reviews and comes with 2 fans. One reviewer also mentions a 1060 GPU will fit. The 1060 if anything is bigger then a 1030. $32 or so with shipping.

https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16811353151?reviews=all

If you need a PSU, just make sure the cables match up or get converters.

  • The PSU you listed.
  • Part Number:
    - WMS-350SFX
  • Form Factor:
    - SFX
  • Power Supply Wattage:
    - 350W
  • SLI/CrossFire Ready:
    - No
  • 80 Plus Certified:
    - No
  • Power Supply Connectors:
    - Mother Board Connector:
    - -20+4 pin Connector x 1
    - CPU Connector:
    - -4pin x 1
    - SATA Connectors:
    - - 2
    - 4 Pin Molex:
    - -1
    - Floppy Connector:
    - -1
  • Cooling:
    - 80mm Fan
  • Dimension:
    - 125mm x 100mm x 62.5mm

BTW a amd 570 or nvidia 970 will smoke that 1030

Yeah it's just going to be a little 4k htpc so the GT 1030 is all I'll need for it. Had another thread about it but I decided to just build one instead. I also want low/no noise, so passive cooling is a must. Since I'll be using the GT 1030 for handling the video, I would like to get a recommendation on the least expensive motherboard and CPU that I should use. It will of course be a Mini ITX board.

Hmm, I've never used one but I don't see why not. 4k all in one for $50-$70. I know it's not a mini ITX mobo. You can get the controller or use a KB mouse. You can put a windows light version it or use the preinstalled OS. These operating systems take less system resources then normal windows. Which makes it snappier and way cheaper.

Sata to USB converter or even a USB hard drive, if your just loading movies, USB 3.0 is plenty fast.

If you want a cheap mobo, any mobo that supports your card and processor will work. idk the minimum CPU required for 4k on windows.

Here is another Ras PI 4k ready dual screen.

Well it looks like I'm out of luck on the GT 1030. Netflix has some kind of unnecessary requirement where you've got to have at least a GTX 1050ti 4Gb in order to stream 4k. The GT 1030 just can't do it, though it should be fully capable. So now once again, I have to change my original question to something else. So...

What's the smallest case that will still fit a GTX 1050ti? Hopefully that is still somewhat inexpensive. I almost want to go with the fractal design Node 500, but even that is just a little bigger than what I'm looking for. Seems like there should be something smaller that would still fit a 1050.

Why don't ya like the Raspberry PI I suggested ? (I'm curious) It has a case, gpu, cpu, ram, remote, wifi, bluetooth etc for $70 4k ready. It's smaller then your hand. I love my computer but that's a smokin deal.

The case I linked earlier will fit a 1050 ti. Maybe that case is to big for what you're looking for.

They're a tad more expensive but the Milo ML06-E and ML09 can fit a low profile dual slot 1050 ti. They're pretty much the same size as the ML05, just a thinner and wider. they come with a vertical stand as well.

Only issue is that stock in the US is scarce, did find them on amazon at slightly inflated prices.
