You might have them also try this while measuring response time from the server:
- Open a forum index page that has at least some linked threads reflecting new/updated content (e.g., the home page, the my subscription page, a subforum index page, etc);
- Using the down arrow to the left of one of those threads (preferable a larger thread), try accessing its latest content ensuring you right click on the down arrow and select open in a new tab;
- Record the timing results, but do not refresh the original index page being used for testing;
- Go back to Step 2 above and rinse and repeat, right-clicking on the same down arrow used the first time.
On OCN, I tend to open posts using the process above, and usually don't refresh the original index page until I'm done reviewing everything I want to. What doesn't get updated (cleared) on the original index page I'm using to access updated threads are the new-post
links associated with those down arrows, e.g., //www.overclock.net/forum/61-water-cooling/528648-official-heatkiller-club-new-post
Just something else that came to mind.
