Small 2.0 speaker setup for computer

Hey guys,

I'm looking to pick up a small speaker setup for my computer. Long story short, I was on a fairly large ht setup with 12" sub. I moved that to the tv in my computer room and have since been using my x34's built in speakers. They're alright for what I do on my computer (youtube, gaming, whatever) but they tend to crackle and buzz in some videos which is becoming annoying. up to this point I've resisted installing new speakers because I'm enjoying the lack of clutter a speaker system adds to the setup.

What I'm looking for is a decent sounding 2.0 stereo setup that is small. I want to keep clutter down to a min. As for budget I'm not 100% sure what I want to spend but am open to various price levels.

Any good suggestions for a set of small stereo speakers with minimal clutter added to my setup?

Thanks,

How small is small. From personal experience, the Edifier S880DBs are pretty small for powered bookshelf speakers and absolutely amazing sound for their price with every connection option you could ask for including an actually good aptx bluetooth connection if you wanted one less cable. Id buy them over the Audioengine A2s any day, but if you need smaller I think the A2s are probably still the go-to.

When I say amazing sound for their price, i'm talking in the category of consumer friendly low footprint, easy out of the box setup speakers. I know you could do better by finding big passive speakers and an amp etc but that's messy with a much larger footprint.

The edifiers are 5.4"W x 6.6"D x 9.1"H

A2s are 4"W x 5.25"D x 6"H

Ah, yeah you're not gonna find a whole lot of options. Have you considered a soundbar? it'll take up more space in width but should be low enough to sit under your monitors? no cross speaker cables, and just a single optical into the pc..

For the smaller end of small and effortless the Bose Companion 2 are actually pretty decent.

https://www.amazon.com/Bose-Companio...RB4Y4HE1QW3YNZ

For a sort of small setup, Micca is probably the best option.

Edit: I started typing this reply before there were any other responses and got distracted. At the size you are looking for, there aren't going to be a lot of good sounding options.

I actually like the soundbar idea... Another option would be just wall mounting some decent sized speakers above/behind the monitors.

I'd buy a set of speaker stands and take the speakers off the desk before I settled for tiny speakers like that.

I've never heard the powered PB42X that were recommended earlier but I have heard the MB42X and I own and use the RB42X and they can't be beat for the price. You'd need an amp for the MB42X/RB42X though.

I have. I need to get some measurements and see what I can fit there. Am worried about it getting in the way of my mouse cord though.

Here's a picture of what I want to hook up the speakers, and my full layout. I now have a ups behind my monitors so I don't have the space for speakers there.

@The Pook -

I used to have my speakers mounted like that though I'd like to keep the clutter down. Also now have a ups where the speakers were mounted.

Yeah I'm thinking I might have to go with a sound bar. I really want something small form factor but want them to sound good.

Hi,
I'd just get a sound bar and mount it pretty much like the webcam is mounted = on top of the center monitor looks like the monitor has something to strap it too already

Yeah I could get something set up. Think a sound bar is going to be the way to go here.
