I ask because I haven't done it at all except for a brief hiatus with PTS and my trusty GTX 480's. I sold those and moved to a pair of 7950 Twin Frozrs that had been used for mining, but seem to work fine. My intentions were not and are not currently to mine with them.

So, if the guy before me was getting out... is now a bad time to hop in? And if so, what currency or pool is the "best" one to use?

Note: I pay a flat rate for power and only use my computer an hour or two a day, so let's assume that those aren't considerations.

now script mining is dead, and this, mining 24-7 I dont know if the other algorythms are good for start mining but

here you can check some coins
http://www.coinwarz.com/cryptocurrency

and as you can see if you have calculated the aerning are way lower due to the need of more compute power and the raise of the difficulty biggrin.gif

absolutley not. the hash rate was ok for old difficulty levels, but even on my 290x I wasn't doing a 1GH/s (I was experamenting recently and you need way more than that to earn enough bitcoin to do anything with.
