Wireless PC

I had a small wi-fi usb adapter before and internet was really bad. I had to refresh a page a few times before connection catches on and then it mostly works fine. Or must refresh download a few times before it would star.

So I bought a new adapter, ASUS USB-N14 802.11n Wireless USB Adapter. Still the same problem. I used different USB ports.

What could be wrong?

Never had any luck with usb “wireless” peripherals..maybe there is much interference from other wireless devices or whatnot..

You’d be better off either getting a pcie wireless card , or go all out and get a powerline adapter..I did just that and I am quite happy with my speeds..

Lap-top's connection is fine, even tho I'm sure the ASUS adapter I just bought is much better than whatever adapter is inside my macbook pro. Very frustrating.

Might try PCI-e card

I think that you should really check out the powerline alternative..there are models that have a pass through plug , so that you won’t lose the wall plug..They’re reliable and have little to no internet speed loss..
Something like these :

Have you tried putting your laptop in the same place as your PC tower and see if the signal goes out too?

yeah, they are next to one another. I don't think that's the problem.

Those powerline adapters seem interesting. Never saw that before. Do they work if PC is plugged into different power phase than router?

woah, two of these threads... messing with my head.

go with the pci solution. usb is flaky.

power line adapters are hit or miss, but they can work. there are also a coax solution that functions similarly I believe.

I pulled an old pair out of the box this morning in an attempt to fix a TV WiFi disconnect issue. Seems like its working fine, however, it didn't work well at all in my old house.

disable power saving

Have you tried disabling the USB adapter's power saving? If the device is sleeping, it takes a few seconds to reconnect.
