10GbE in PCI-E 4.0 x1? Has anyone tried?

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has tried using a 10Gigabit Ethernet card in a PCI-E 4.0 x1 slot? as the slot can do theoretically 1.97GB/s?

Cheers!

10GbE cards like the ASUS XG-C100C are X4 so they probably won't work. Plus you'd have to cut the X1 slot.

I think the most you can get for X1 is 2.5GbE.

I haven't seen any Pcie 4.0 cards. Other then m.2 or GPU. I have seen 2.5GbE and some rare 5GbE in Pcie 3.0 x1.
