I'll test just that, will report what's up. Thanks for all the help :-)!

Hi everyone, so I wanted to do an update now that I had another kit from G.Skill and could rule out faulty RAM.

Kits tested:
- F4-4000C17D-16GTZR
- HX440C19PB3K2/16

Computer Specs:
8600K @ 4.8Ghz / 4.5Ghz Cache
Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Master (F8 Bios)

------------

I was finally able to get a fully stable 3600Mhz 16-16-16-36 w/ 45000 tREF & 450 tRFC!

Proof:

Do you see any other timing that's considerably bad?

Interesting enough, it seemed that "less" is more. I have everything on AUTO except:

VCCIO & VCCSA at 1.2v
tREFI at 45000 and tRFC at 450.
vDIMM at 1.4v

Setting other "Aorus Tricks" such as tRDWR's to 16~18 (currently at 11) only upsetted the board. Also setting the Rtt (Nom, Park & Wr) to 60/120/40 made my board to NOT boot opposed to what Buildzoid was suggesting for this board.

So... what's next? Gonna see how low can I get tRFC and tREFI, but then also play with the main timings.

What new timings do you think I can test out? Was thinking 15-15-15-38 or even 14-14-14-34 and of course see what 1T does also.

Oh the irony! Yesterday before going to bed I stumbled across your settings at the original thread and since I still had my 2x8 B-Die Kingston laying around (while 4000mhz, they're CL19) I took your settings, plugged them into my Bios and guess what?

Now I come here wanting to do an update and you're posting the same thing HAHAh, you're a very good contributor to this forum. Thanks!

I had to run CL18 though, because CL17 did give some errors at 500% on Karhu. Also added 20mv to my IMC to avoid errors as well.

TL;DR - Made it (with thanks to KedarWolf) to get a hybrid setup of 2x8+2x8 to run at 4000MHz. - See quoted links

Now, I believe that I just have to call it quits on this board at 4000Mhz only 16gb (2x8). I don't see a benefit to run 32gb vs 16gb for gaming (and 3600mhz CL16 vs 4000mhz CL18) - or am I wrong?

You likely could still drop tRFC/tWR/tRAS a bit, but looks good

Run AIDA64 and compare 3600 CL16 vs 4000 CL18, but I'd probably run 4000 if all the subs are identical. My RAM benches a bit faster at 4133 16-18-18 than 4000 15-17-17.

Agreed! These are the results:

Small Update here, haven't been able to tighten to 14-14-14- and still figuring out 15-14-14-, but based on my last most stable results this is 15-15-15 with tight timings all around (feedback is welcome!)

Will a system even POST if tWR is less than double the tRTP value?
I believe tWR must be => 2x tRTP.

AFAIK most boards will just override tWR to 2x tRTP if you set it too low and POST normally.

I also noticed that modifying WTR's it resets modules to 3200Mhz no idea why.

I just haven't been able to stabilize CL14 or even 15-14-14, while upping voltage of vccio/sa to 1.3v and vdimm to 1.5 helps, it's too much for a daily.

So what what do you think of the results?
I'll still try to lower tRFC and reach max on tREF but besides that, and maybe trying 1T I think this is the best I can get so far.

tWRRD-sg has to = tCWL + 6 + tWRT-L
tWRRD-dg has to = tCWL + 6 + tWRT-S

Maybe your motherboard is just reverting to fail safes if you enter something that isn't possible.

I mean, if it's the best you can do it's the best you can do, can't win the lottery every time. Just lower all the timings as much as you can if you can't increase frequency. A lot of them are pretty high considering you're <4000mhz. Here's mine at 4133 if you wanna try and copy.
