Am I dumb, or did I get a lemon?

Hello there! I just built myself a new PC and can't seem to get my RAM to run at it's rated 3600mhz. To be honest, I didn't think I would be able to run it out of the box like that, but I thought I could at least get it with some tweaking. But alas, I can't seem to get it running at anything over 3200mhz. I test it using Memtest and get loads of errors on the first pass of test 7 if I go above 3200mhz. I tried using the DRAM Calculator for Ryzen but following it very strictly yielded the same results. So am I just dumb, and not tweaking right? Or should I RMA it? Or should I send it back and buy a different kit? (if it matters, I'm running Windows 10 LTSB). Thank you! PCPartpicker link below (hopefully it works)

Your motherboard only lists supposed memory speeds up to 3466mhz so anything above that is going to be a gamble.

Is your board rated to run those speeds?

Are you running first gen Ryzen not sure how far they got into fixing the RAM issues by either AMD or mobo vendors. At first they could not even run at 3200MHz. Not sure if they were still problems with the 2XXX series either.

Also try to manually set the RAM specs manually and or also bump RAM volts and see if they will go faster.

Update Bios.

That motherboard is not rated for full slots @ DDR4-3600.

DDR4-3200 with lower timings may be your best set up. Or you can try stabilizing 3466 by manually setting SoC Voltage to force the CPU IMC to be more stable.

Make sure you are using the latest BIOS as mentioned

It did not occur to me that my motherboard isn't rated for 3600. However, I still can't go above 3200 which baffles me. No amount of voltage or settings works. I'm also on the latest BIOS. I think perhaps I might be better of with a different kit. Perhaps this one? https://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...82E16820232263

DDR4-3200 C14 or DDR4-3600 C16 will be best as they use chips ideal for AMD CPUs

3200 @CAS14 is better than 3600 @CAS16 especially with tRCD @14 and 1T CR.

Yap, that's good. It's B-die.

Should be able to clock that to 3600MHz Cl16. Better yet, 3466 MHz Cl14.

Well I managed to get 3466 stable, at least I think. While using my PC everything seems perfectly fine, been so for about 24 strait hours now (including gaming and general browsing). But the second I start Memtest, I get hundreds of errors right away. Is my kit bad, is memtest bad, or is my OC bad?

Being able to use the OS and game without issues doesn't mean things are stable. If it fails MemTest it's not stable.
