3200mhz cl16 to 4000 cl17 worth the upgrade ?

Hi everyone.

I’ve seen a few videos on YouTube showing gaming comparisons between 3200mhz and 4000mhz

Right now I have a 64GB (16gbx4) kit running at 3200 XMP enabled.

I am contemplating to get a HyperX 4000mhz cl17 or perhaps even a 4400mhz cl18 but only 32gb because the price is high and I’m only using it for gaming

Would that be worth at all? Most games shows 15-20 fps difference.

I’m trying to squeeze as much fps as I can get with my current rig. I have nothing to upgrade elsewhere. My cpu is a 9900k 5ghz and a rtx2080ti.

So if I can squeeze some extra performance with my ram I thought I should give it a go

If you are running 4k you are likely GPU bottlnecked and the only thing that will help is watercooling the GPU.
If the game you are playing is completely CPU bottlnecked you may see around 20% increase in FPS from moving to 16GB 4400c18 with tweaked sub timings.
You can tell how badly GPU\CPU limited you are by looking at GPU clocks\usage in game, if GPU usage is under 70% you can expect some decent gains.

Hi,
Prices are high because you're in samsung b-die land instead of hynix die land
https://benzhaomin.github.io/bdiefinder/

Is it worth it usually budget dictates that
Performance wise very little gain you'd probably be best off tweaking timings on the hynix set you already have
64gb's will be fun no matter what so remove half and see how well it oc's

But what is there got to do with the ram bro..

I dont really have any bottlenecks. my GPU is

My GPU is watercooled. its a Aorus Waterforce AIO. temps areound 51-53 while gaming

My GPU are often 70-80% in game on 1440p. CPU mostly around 50-60% but i never had any performance issue in game. Even on battlefield im geting 150fps average on all ultra

Just seeing if i could get like 15-20 more FPS with more RAM

Gaming resolution and hardware has everything to do with weather you need faster >3200 speed memory for faster 144 FPS. Memory scaling benchmarks LINK: https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews...ed,5951-5.html

Buy a good B-Die kit and set things manually or don't bother. If you're just planning on setting XMP and not doing any tweaking then you're wasting your time.

The only difference RAM speed makes is to the performance of the CPU it has no direct affect on FPS beyond that.

If your GPU is 70-80% then you probably have a CPU bottlneck but it will only be on a few cores that will be at 100% while the rest of the cores have a lighter load due to the games multithreading not being able to perfectly balance across 16 threads or maybe it is only making use of 8 threads and the other 8 are mostly idle.
