RAM overclocking

Hello

I have tried to overclock my CPU, which i kinda got working at 3,9mhz. Problem is with my RAM.
The G.Skill TridentZ is advertised to run 3200mhz, but somehow i cant get it stable over 2933. And when i look in "AMD Ryzen Master" and "HWiNFO64", it tells me my ram is running at 1467mhz.
I dont get this. Can someone tell me whats going on.

my setup:
ASUS ROG STRIX X470-F GAMING
AMD Ryzen 5 2600 with Wraith Prism cooler
G.Skill TridentZ RGB DDR4-3200 C16 DC - 16GB

Ram timing is 16-18-18-38, with volt 1,35 and 2933mhz in bios. But in above programs it shows RAM running at 1467mhz, even in games...

Because 1467x2=2933. So it runs 2933MHz. If you can't get over 2933 then you lost silicon lottery.

Oh i see...

So even tho they advertise it, there's no guarantee it CAN in fact run at 3200mhz!

No, because it's overclocking, and THAT depends on your platform. They advertise it IS ABLE to run the advertised speed but they DON'T GUARANTEE it will run like that on your PC.

Hi,
3200C16 is why it's not really silicon lottery it's hynix memory verses samsung memory chips.

3200C14 would probably work well and last I saw on newegg was on sell

Yeah! I have done my homework, albeit to late lol, i thought that CL16 was better, than CL14 lol. I now know that the CL14 is samsung, and they better optimised for 3200mhz. Not really fair that its called G.skill TridentZ 3200mhz, when in fact it can not run on those speeds.

If you buy a car that runs on gas and you put diesel in it and it doesn't run, is the car faulty?

Your RAM can run at 3200. Your system can not run the RAM at 3200.

Hi,
C16 is better if we're talking about 3600C16 use the app I posted and see for yourself

I also have Trident z 3200C16 hynix memory it works fine at rated speed just won't go very much past rated speed but this was on a x299 system
Didn't even post on a x99 system so yeah memory bites sometimes

But on x99 3200C14 works at rated speed so go figure and live and learn

Do you have the latest BIOS? Are modules installed in slots A2 B2?

Try boosting SoC Voltage to see if it can improve stability for DDR4-3200.

The memory kit is guaranteed to operate at the rated specifications using a motherboard listed on the G.Skill QVL:

https://www.gskill.com/en/configurat...396&model=3407

It is also assuming you have a CPU that can support it..
