Bought Single Channel Ram Sticks but using in 2 slots

So when I bought my Ballistix Sports LT sticks, they had a deal on single 8gb sticks vs the double pack..
Silly me I said why not save the $10+ and buy two singles in said of the double pack.

The sales rep didnt mention the single stick I was buying was single channel while the two pack was dual channel.
So anyways I am running to single channel sticks as if they were dual channel..

Is there any negative impact?

Up to 35%. Usually hovers around 20% in games.

Also, do you mean single channel as a single STICK or RANK?

why would the rep tell you that a single stick would only run in single channel? it's a single stick, kind of common sense that a single stick would run in single channel.

even if the sticks are identical and only the manufacturing dates are different then there's a chance they won't run in dual channel. if your two separate sticks do run in dual channel then there is no performance difference.

Let me rephrase.. Can a single channel ram be used with another single channel ram stick in a dual channel set up if they are identical?

Or must they of been purchased together as a dual channel configuration to receive any performance benefits?

So there is a chance that two single channel sticks that happen to be identical could be paired together and work as dual channel.
However, to ensure they do function as dual channel, I would of needed to of bought them together in a pack correct? Is there a way to tell?

How does it work when you want two sets of dual channel for say 32gb? I just buy (2) of the same 16gb packs or should I buy quad channel even tho its (2) dual channels and only ws mobos are quad..

You are fine.

This is just the given name by the shop. Memory cannot be single or dual channel in itself.

If you put two into dual-channel motherboard: you get dual channel. If you put 4 into the quad-channel motherboard, you get quad.

Just make sure they're in the correct slots for dual channel, read the motherboard manual. If they're in the wrong slots they'll be still be running in single channel
