I have noticed 12.11 runs alot hotter than 12.8 on my 7970's

Anybody got any ideas why my 7950's artifact like hell when I run MilkyWay? I have the speeds at 800/800 to try to reduce heat, but no matter the voltage, clocks, fan speed, etc. I always get artifacts. It's pretty much the only reason why I haven't been running MW. I think it started after I upgraded from the 12.8 drivers to 12.11. When that change happened, my temps skyrocketed by like 10-15C haha. Anyone got any suggestions for me?

Are you getting artifacts on windows desktop? I was getting those too, after a fresh windows install and running 12.8 drivers i have no artifacts.

How many WU's do you all run at once for MW? i seem to get decent GPU usage running just one, how much of a benefit would I see going to more (6970)?

I think you would see a 25-30% increase if you run 2 WU's on your 6970. thumb.gif

Sweet, thanks man!

Looks like POEM wu's are back out in the wild so I'll be running those for a while.

So I'd have to revert back to 12.8 to get rid of the artifacts? Hmm. Ugh. I like the performance of 12.11 though haha.

If I could use the integrated gpu on my 3570k, I wouldnt have any problems, but for whatever reason I cant get it to work. I even enabled it in BIOS.

EDIT: I also noticed something else. I always get artifacts from whichever one of my gpu's is in the first PCI-e lane. It doesnt matter whether its my newer card or the older one, but its always that specific lane.

EDIT 2: I just discovered that I only get artifacts while running Chrome at the same time as MW. I thought chrome was supposed to be lightweight...

My BOINC stats - (Close to) 20 Million and counting! wheee.gif

If 12.8 fixes your issue these drivers might work for you i modded the 12.8 opencl and sdk into 12.11 driver for folding but might fix mw also.
