Anyway I ended up pre-ordering the Alphacool full-cover block so I'm not sure I care what EK is doing at this point but also interested to see Heatkiller's option; can't find a word about it anywhere though.
If I recall correctly, Heatkiller is only working on a FE block for now.
EK is usually the best bet for AIB cards. The Strix series is usually one that they release quickly.

Consensus seems to be that the AIB cards releasing on 9/20 are all reference PCB, so theoretically any block that fits the FE should fit them. Where this is actually the case remains to be seen though.

Another quick update: someone else started a topic about this at EVGA forums and it got confirmation from an EVGA guy that the 2080Ti XC and XC Ultra ARE reference PCBs and acknowledgement of a previous comment that the first wave of blocks for FE should fit them (Alphacool and EK are the only ones I know about though there are rumors of a Heatkiller).

As such, I will be stripping my EVGA XC as soon as my alphacool block arrives (have it on preorder). I ordered the block from a US supplier but not sure yet exactly what timing will be (on that note I need to see if I can change my shipping option because I’m now eager to get this thing ASAP as my XC is being delivered 9/21).

So barring bad info or a catastrophe I should have that bad boy on a block relatively quickly and can share info/numbers.

Could we get a confirmation on whether the NV Link bridge from nvidia will fit with the blocks this time around? I know the previous nvidia pascal hb bridge did not fit.

What are you referring to? Alphacool and EK’s blocks for 2080 and 2080Ti will both be available when the cards launch in September. Officially the compatibility list for both only lists the Founder’s Edition cards but at least in the case of EVGA they confirmed their cards are using the reference PCBs so the blocks should fit those. It stands to reason that the other 3rd party cards should be reference as well.

So not sure what you mean by a couple of months after release. There will be blocks available literally on the day of launch.

Phanteks announced theirs today for 2080 & Ti. I have a Phanteks Glacier on my Asus Strix 1080Ti and I am very happy with it while it also works with the Strix backplate.

Because the EVGA use ref. Boards, I will directly buy the EK Block. Until now, I had zero Problem with EK Products and the Support is fantastic, for my "old" MSI Seahawk EK Version I had a little extra wish and the support made everythink that I could realise my plan. Respect!

Price wise, all the good Blocks play in the same range. Because I only want Acetal Version, the optical diff is very little.

EK Blocks and backplates are available for preorder now. Be careful with the backplates. The nickel one will be delivered later. Only the black one seems to be available at launch. I got my plexi one ordered.
