Do you need to buy one, or just to borrow/lease one?
Would a non-functional one work, for parts to repair one that you already have?

The IBM 5100 is a collector's item and from what I have seen, this is not much of a collector's forum.

Supposedly, it has a super-clicky IBM beam-spring switch keyboard and I know that the machine is coveted by some collectors
of vintage keyboards just because of that. Therefore, I have seen it mentioned on keyboard forums and I have seen IBM's old advertising video for it on Youtube.

Unless you need the tape drive, maybe you could widen your search to include also the IBM 5110 and 5120. They should be compatible except that they do use floppies instead.

Why? And why this particular model? Are you working on some old government junk or something?

The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding. - Proverbs 4:7
