Hello !

so long story short , i have got an Elite micro desktop 8300 as present, and since am a gamer , i want to install my graphics card in it , but stupid HP has customized the motherboard and the powersupply ! so only HP PSU will have the neccessary power cables to power the MOBO !!! ( instead of the ordinary 24 pins cable, there is 6 pins cable and wierd 5 pins cable)

i have a decent 850 watts PSU that i need to install in the computer , i was reading alot , and found several adapters that can allow the ordinaly PSU to be used on this stupid HP motherboard ..

will any of these adapters work ?

Hey did you find out the answer? What thread did you find that answered your question?

I have an older HP Elite sitting here and also wanted to swap power supplies and was wondering if you went with one of those adapters.

That search didn't get me anywhere. It just found this thread and a bunch of unrelated ones.

hello again ,

ok , for the record , HP Z220 PSU is similar to our problematic PSU . hp has only onemodified model ofthe PSU for workstations , so ifyou search for info , you can widen the search criteria by 8200

am using two PSUs the crapy HP to power the MOBO , and my crossair 850 to power the other components including my radeon 280X , but still having two powersupplies is not the (clean) solution , especially when only one is enough , so i had to lookup for other solutions, which i dont mind buying an adapter for some $ ( since i got my 8300 I5 as a present biggrin.gif)

but in normal situationsi will be extremly carefull not to get near those kind of propriety brands

am testing the adapter on this saturday , and will report back ,, i read couple reviews on it in the internet , and mostly it worked for all , but a few ..
