The reason behind the project name is, I love Ford Mustangs! The new boss 302 is just sexy. I know I will never afford it
so I came up with the idea to create that dream on my pc!
Anyways let’s cut the talk and stuff and get to the build! My plan:
My plan is to paint the case burnt orange to match my Acer monitor and have custom decal replicas from the mustang 302. I want to mod some of the case too. I have some other plans but I don’t want to ruin it! I don’t have a time limit just going with the money I have and the time.
(more to be added as time goes on) WIPCurrent setup:

I went a little crazy on paint and sandpaper =/ the girlfriend yelled at me for a bit. Ace was selling packs of sand paper 1.25 for 25 sheets so I was happy. Went to the register and found out that was 1.25 per sheet
there goes 100 bucks plus I got other stuff like black paint and sand block. Lowes didn’t have proper black paint. Only 500+ degree black for grills which I didn’t want. I found some for automotive so I picked up one can of that and got some normal black and white at Wal-Mart. Even ace didn’t have any! I was trying to keep with the same brand paints too which makes it harder.
Lowes had 2 in 1 primer. Fills and sandable! FTW! saved me some money. 80 bucks worth of painting stuff lol yea I went cray cray.
The sandpaper I didn't know how much i needed to be honest so I guess what I don't use I will return. Ace is cool like that
Back to the “test bench.” After cutting all the screws off I sanded it down and filled them with really old wood filler I had =/ that stuff drys out too fast if you don’t use it. Nothing a heat gun cant fix!
I waiting on it to dry so I can sand it more and sand the big spots I filled to cover the metal brackets. I don’t want any MB shorting. I might paint it. I don’t know yet. Its only temp so I might not just to save on paint. I sanded the wood down really well too.
I added a bracket to the back just in case it becomes top heavy and falls over lol. It will do for now.
I should get the rest of my watercooling stuff Monday or Tuesday! CPU block will be added and fill port =) can’t wait. I bought the new EX thin res from XSPC for the CPU. We will see how that goes. They say it preforms "better" than there thick res. I guess at high fan speeds yes but low idle speeds I’m not too sure. Might have to test that!
for now I am done for then night time to play some Ace combat assault horizon on the ps3. I rented it. I'm a huge fan of that series. Then I might play minecraft with my friend from school. tomorrow will be a new day! =)

Ok update! Here goes...
So today's my birthday. (Happy birthday to me!) I didn't get much done cause of my birthday but it’s the start of getting ready to paint my case. I finish setting up my rig on my temp case and bleeding all the bubbles out of the loop using my trusty plastic tools I made
They really work well with stopping the pump from sucking the bubble right back in. The Dual res is a PITA but it’s still amazing besides that.
So when I got home I got a box from UPS! I wonder what it isss.........
Time to bleed the loop and dismantle it.
Wait what’s this!!!!
Plasticize or anti-bacterial lining? I hope it’s not plasticizing. I’ve read that primochill is having this issue. Let’s hope not. Anyways I cleaned the tubing with boiling water and vinegar just to make sure and the tubes were nice and clean again. Washed them out with distilled water and moving on.
Oh I cleaned my new Rad too! XSPC EX240 is nice! It’s a bit loud when your fans are on full but I plan on upgrading to Ap-15's for the top rad anyways. We’ll see how loud it is then.
Cleaning CPU. Removal of my old CPU paste! I think I did a good job on the paste. I got some Shin Etsu to replace it! Gotta replace the Gpu's paste as well when I bleed my loop the next time around.
Love my motherboard! =) It does its job!
I love the Raystorm AMD block! It was a pain to install. Ended up not using the second nut they gave me for tightening the spring. Still works same way just more room length and room for the screw to catch the backplate.
Temp case for now.
Yes some of it is held by zip ties lol! I only did that to hold everything together and support the Gpu more as there is no mounting in place to hold the heavy waterblocks so zip ties it was!
Finally done with that crap. Now it time for the real project which I will start tomorrow morning. Sanding and priming! I got a new rivet gun too from harbor freight. 5 bucks. They were out of 1/8 rivets so I went to ace which was next door. Hardware heaven I have to say. Two of the best stores in one location. Ace had the rivets and the same gun I bought but for 25 bucks! Just cause it have the ace logo on it. Man I got a deal.
That is for tonight. check back tomorrow. I will try post before school( which is night college) if not I will post in class on my break. Oh and I forgot to show you guys this.
U cant see it unless my uv lights are on but i changed the bitspower o-rings to...you guessed it orange! gotta say it looks sexy.
I will post a after picture tomorrow. Forgot to take an after pic
oppss. It is late. Cya tomorrow OCN!
Prep Work and Priming (Click to show)
Picture update like I promised =):
So case is disassembled
Started sanding and wet sanding. Found out wet sanding helped a little with the removal of the powder-coat. Man that stuff is baked on there good.
Hanging the parts to dry after wet sand and denatured clean . Man the powder coat is messy messy messy work. Don't wear nice clothes!
Im off to IKEA for today. When I get back its prime time and sweetish meatballs! haha. More sanding of the other parts and priming. Looks like I will need more primer
more pictures tonight.
Painting and Window Cutting (Click to show)
So here is the picture update I promised.
My new side door came in! =) I don't want to waste the nvidia edition window! It is too nice to mess up.
Time to remove the plastic green trim and disassemble the front and top panels
These tabs are what hold them in place. Hard to remove without destroying the plastic tab.
Top panel hotswab removed. I never use this. It will become my fill port or possibly removed all together
all my parts handing and read for cleaning/taping/priming.
while that was drying I started work on the side window. This was going to be tricky as i needed the window to fit and curve with the decals I have from the mustang boos 302. Took a good hour of brainstorming and planning before we got the final drawing. Printed the drawing and used it to make the lower curve. Thanks to my girlfriend for her artistic hands!
Getting the whole family involved is great! They have skills I don't have which overall helps the build even more. I might use a jigsaw instead of my dremel since dremels are a lot messier than a jigsaw. More control over the jigsaw. What do you think?
Final picture of the window!? what do you think? I have to thank her dad for the graphical help. He perfected the curve for me using pictures for the original boos 302 and newer version. We debated on striped but found out it wouldn't fit and be really hard to paint.
My paint booth. A/C and exhaust system built into the garage. Used a box fan and a super thin towel over the box fan to help with removal of the fumes as the paint dried.
There is the trim parts sanded/ adhesion promoted/ and primed
Wet sanding time. I used 400 grit and found it was too much for the primer =/ had to go to auto parts store to get the special 600 800 2000 and 3000 grit sand paper.
used the 600 grit and was amazing.
That is it for today. I had to buy off deep woods too its been raining like crazy here and the bugs are crazy out right now.
Tomorrow is hopefully painting time. =) i got to finish wet sanding the other parts that where still drying.
Thanks for watching and following the log guys more soon!
Almost complete build pictures:
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
K here is an long over due update. Sorry life happens guys.
It will be mostly pictures of what you guys missed. I only have a little bit of time before bed and then work. Tomorrow i will have time to finish as much of the painting as I can so it can sit for the next few days before clear coat maybe...still have to do my clear coat experiment with some scrap metal i have left over from the door.
Ok it is picture time.
Pre cut hole and ready to go with the jigsaw. I bought a 25 or 30 tpi...(cant remember right now) blade for it. It cut soo smoothly
scrap metal for something later on
My girlfriend helping with smoothing out the edges and making them straight. I had her dad cut out the door for me. He cuts really straight which is what i needed. =) i cant cut straight for crap lol
RUNN A GIRL WITH A POWERTOOL!! hehe
jk she did a good job. I finished the edges off with sandpaper. 220, 600, 1500 and primed the door.
here is what i have painted so far. After it dried i moved them to another room that is the perfect temp all the time. Not to hot, not to cold, good humidity and lots of sunlight!
Perfect drying room!
Don't mind the old flashback furniture lol They don't bother updating the house cause money is tight and they plan on selling the house anyways as it is cheaper to rent these days than owning a house.
All the orange glory! =) Wetsanding and final coat is tomorrow after work!
Motherboard tray. God the white came out perfect! I don't know why but i don't even have to sand it! its perfect smooth. Why cant all spray paint be like that! lol I did spend a lot of time wet sanding it as it is a huge piece to work with. A lot of "curves" if you might say.
Acrylic came in today as well as my samples for something else i had in mind. I plan on having a lit up OCN flame on the back panel door like a 6 x 6 or so. Not too big. Just perfect size. If you are wondering the acrylic piece i bought is 12 x 25 cast acrylic. Cost me about 25 bucks. Not bad. shipping killed me. plus the one dollar samples too. came total to 40 bucks shipped from wayyyy up north.
I had to remove some of the metal from the door in order to get the Acrylic to fit properly You will see what i mean below in the after picture.
All cut. Time to clean it up and sand till its super smooth. Even if no one sees that part. I OCD over this stuff. lol.
Acrylic all cut and test fit! Looks amazing! Btw the acrylic is tinted light gray.
That is it for now. More tomorrow i hope if i get a chance.
I need help on lighting. I am thinking white led's but I'm clueless on the led's for my CPU block. I don't want to go red as i think red is too much. My whole inside of the case is red.
I was thinking purple. Orange and purple is pimping lol. so it would be white led's with purple accents for CPU block and what not.
I have UV lights for late night gaming too. I could order a pair of each led and test to see what is best.
till next time
