I was repairing my aunt's Powermac G5 and really liked the look of the aluminum chassis. I decided to buy a used one and put my PC in it, maybe going for a Hackintosh later. After mesurements, my SpinQ VT would not fit, so I decided to go with with a custom water cooling loop. Then I decided that a coloring theme was necessary, and Portal was an obvious choice.

List of Mods: (full disassembly of case)
-Cut Back for I/O and PCI
-Cut window for Portal 2 logo with a DREMEL
-Cut barrier for aperture logo with a DREMEL
-Cut holes for 2 bottom fans
-Sanded, painted case

Start:

Finish:

My components:
Asus Sabertooth 990FX Asrock z77 Extreme4
Phenom x6 1090t Intel i7 3770k
Gigabyte GTX 670
One 3.5" drive (2TB), one 2.5" drive(64GB SSD)
Apevia Warlock 750w PSU Rosewill Capstone 750w
16GB of G.skill RAM SAMSUNG RAM

For the cooling loop
Coolgate dual 140mm rad (x60mm thick)
MassCool dual 120mm rad (x35mm thick)
EK GTC 680 CSQ block
Swiftech Apogee Drive II
Swiftech Res

I will be posting images of my work on the case, but I would like to ask you guys if you think a dual 140mm rad will be enough to cool my CPU, GPU, and possibly another GPU in the far future. I could a dual 120mm rad and squeeze it in the bottom of the case.

I put my fans on my rad today (although i put the wires on the wrong side doh.gif) and they look nice.

I marked the placement of the two intake 120mm fans on the bottom of the case. I took the spacing from the diagram for a dual radiator in case I want to install one later.

Tomorrow I will be sanding this whole thing down and giving it a nice coat of white. I would have liked to keep it anodized, but this thing is pretty scratched up.

Today I cut the excess aluminum off of my motherboard tray, cut a hole in my side panel to test a hole saw, and painted some of the metal to see how it looks.

My holesaw decided to go crazy and cut a large semicircle. Luckily, that portion will be cut out for the window.

This is the exact color I was looking for. Sticks to anodized aluminum very well!

Tomorrow I hope to mount the mobo tray, cut some more, and get the whole thing painted.
