Current Status of the built

Hey Guys thumb.gif

I recently bought a small itx system and had the idea to build a nice case for it . i still do not have all parts for my project, but i have a no pressure to build it fast tongue.gif
As the title says, i didn't plan to spend a lot of money for this build, so it won't be a 8-core super duper system with 2 titan z tongue.gif i want to build a system wich can play titles like League of Legends, Trackmania, older retro games ( Age of Empires, Counter Strike Source, etc ) and Call of Duty 4 in a resolution of max 1920x1080

The itx board a bought has a built in gpu , but it is not a good one ( GeForce 9300 )
So what do you think im getting out of that cpu ?
Its an intel core 2 duo e4600 at stock clock of 2,4ghz. i saw people hitting it to 3,2 ghz, but i don't know if my ram ( 2x2gb 800mhz corsair xms ) allows it and of course the cooler .

Here are the parts for my build :

-Zotac ITX 9300 I-E (Built in Geforce 9300)

-Intel Core 2 Duo E4600 2,4ghz

-2x2gb Corsair Xms 800mhz Ram

-400w 80+ SFX PSU

-Either a 3,5" or a 2,5" HDD ( Depending on the space in my built

-Vandal Switch

-Some old fans, more than enough for 3 builds biggrin.gif

-Some old cases for donor parts

Upgrade Plans:

-Building a Case

-Buying a Graphicscard for a low budget

My plans for the case:

-Probably very small
-portable
-not too much bling bling
-maybe wood ?!? rolleyes.gif

Last but not least some pictures of the board (the other hardware will follow in a few days) :

Not the best quality, made with my phone tongue.gif
This is it for now,
Have a nice weekend smile.gif

it would be nice if the 771 mod worked on the 9300 chipset but, i think it's an unknown chipset as far as compatibility. you might be able to afford a q9550 later but, i think that chipset would murder the performance. i have the same cpu in two builds one with this chipset and it runs slow compared to the one with the itnel chipset.

Thank you ! smile.gif Yeah, i probably put all the stickers off, it definitly looks a lot of better tongue.gif

I have a question to the quad cores :
is there a huge perfomance increase from the q6600 to the q9xxx ? the q6600 is a lot of cheaper. I am thinking about to upgrade the cpu after the purchase of a gpu tongue.gif but this is in the future, haha biggrin.gif
also i do not know what gpu i should buy. my budget is really really small

with a top end board the xeon equivalents of the q9550 can do 4.0-4,6ghz !!! on the other hand they VERY cheap compared to 775.

impressing, if you see that intel produced these cpus a long time ago. but with this high clock it will be very difficult to cool it down . probably too small for a itx case. my aim for the e4600 is 3ghz , but i didn't try it yet

not really most guys are running decent/good air coolers or AIO water cooling units. The Xeon chips were/are very highly binned chips, and if you under stand server hardware, servers uses and server market it makes sense.

3ghz isn't bad. the core 2 duo can still hold it's own!!!

It's about the same as an Athlon II X2 at the same speed, which is more than enough for the type of games he's wanting to play. Not sure a Q6600 makes sense for that board, since it makes much more heat when overclocked and he'd rarely see any benefit from the quad-core anyway.

thank you mate thumb.gif i had luck to get it ! but matx is a good compromise, not a lot bigger and more slots. luckily this board has built in wifi and da gpu, so i do not have to spend directly more money smile.gif
