Thanks, I suppose after I get it all worked up and my leds+resistors get in and I wire in the power light.
You think it might be mod of the month material?

IT IS ALIVE!!!

Alrighty, sorry for hiatus, military can be a time drain like no other.

So I've redone the USB, wired in the LED for the power here:

And here is the system as it stands (currently drying the plastic weld, but otherwise I'm installing windows 10)

!
Comment away folks! I'd love feedback on this. Next step is finishing the install and customization of the system!smile.gif

i love this, really want to do it with an orange gamecube.

when you were rooting around in the case, did you think theres space for a half-size GPU?
I was thinking maybe under the mobo with a PCI extender cable?
I would like it if I did a GC mod to be able to run dolphin games, which really need a decent GPU.

Absolutely not. I tinkered with the idea of getting a Gigabyte brix with a video card in it (like a 760m I believe) and while it may have just fit, I would need to invert the heatsinks and replace their proprietary MXM cable with a flexible one (it is two boards). After looking at the size, it just wasn't very feasible.

If you plan on doing this with say an Intel NUC, they have even lower clocked processors and the fan/heatsink they supply is just not sufficient for anything high end.

Problem is, nobody makes heatsinks for intel NUC unless you mod a silent case or get one manufactured for you or drill one out yourself. It wasn't cost efficient so...

I went with this due to the flat, copper heatsink, a higher clockspeed, and good performance in Dolphin.

This will be playing Super Smash Bros.

As for space, there simply is so little in that thing, you may be able to get away with PICO ITX but...no dice on GPU man.

yeah i would have to keep the PSU outside, snake cables in and hide them, maybe a modular PSU to reduce cable size.
I was looking into the GPU coming through a M2 port.

Very nice idea and build! So how's the Dolphin emulation? Does the play gamecube games at a reasonable rate?
Any progress on the case?
