My goal is to build a computer that is aesthetically pleasing, nearly silent in normal use, and has as much overall performance in all tasks as possible. I started with the case, and decided to go with the Little Devil PC-V7 in all white, 420/280 model:

I love the look of this case, reminds me of the old VoodooPC cases. The white looks great in an oak office scheme. I may custom powder coat the case a different color depending on the new desk and chair I go with.

Next step is the radiators. I would like to go with the Hardware Labs Black Ice Nemesis 280 & 420 GTR series. Based on a series of reviews these either the best, or close to, performing radiators at fan speeds of 1800 RPM or above. These will be a tight fit in the fan shrouds of the PC-V7, but I've measured everything out and it should work. In the worst case, I may need to use some spacers or bend metal a bit.

For fans, I'm interested in the Noctua NF-A14 iPPC-2000 PWM and iPPC-3000 PWM. They look and perform the part for this build. Obviously these are not quiet full out but reviews I've read have said the 2000 can PWM down to 800 rpm and the 3000 down to 1100 rpm. I am buying one of each tonight to test them out. I will see if I can tolerate the noise level of the 3000s, if not, I will use the 2000s. Right now, I have no problem with the 1800 rpm fans in my existing build but can notice the 2800 rpm fan on my CPU cooler. The intent on my new build will be to run at low RPMs in normal use or gaming and to only use full speed when stress testing. I will also order the 280 GTR rad tonight to test fitment in the case. If the 280 fits, the 420 should as well.

Undecided on CPU - could go with anything from a Ryzen 5 1500X to a Core i9 7980XE. No needs, just wants.

For GPU, my pick right now is the Gigabyte AORUS 1080 Ti Waterforce WB in SLI. Not really a rainbow RGB kind of person but set to a single color it looks gorgeous:

I went ahead and ordered a Gigabyte Aorus 1080 Ti Waterforce WB from Newegg, along with an EVGA 1600 T2 PSU.

The Aorus has the most aggressive stock clocks of any of the currently available waterblocked 1080 Tis. I like the EVGA Hydrocopper as well, but they're out of stock everywhere except Ebay... where they're $1250.

The T2 series are phenomenal PSUs. Even if I go with the 7980XE and push it into the upper 4s, a 1200W would be enough, but I decided to go for a little extra.

My inspiration for this build is the old cases used by VoodooPC... I used to want one of these back in 2002 or so:

After 4 days the Nemesis GTR 280 shipped out from Amazon, expected to be here tomorrow by 8AM. Funny how it takes 4 days to get the order in but then 1 day to actually ship. If it fits well in the case I'll order up the 420.

Looks like everything will arrive tomorrow and Wednesday. Next steps will be to buy the 2nd GPU, tubing (I'm thinking white but open to suggestions), a pump and reservoir. Maybe fittings as well.

Got the 280 GTR rad in today. What a great quality product, totally worth the $117 it cost me. Came packaged well. It's very heavy being made of all copper. Might be heavier than my ridiculously light case.

It's too big for the fan shrouds on the LD case, but I can just put the fans there and the rad over them. Still waiting on those so I know for sure. The fan spacing seems to match up (15.5mm for both). It fits snugly in the front as pictured, the case metal on the sides actually holds it in place.

Everything looks good though, so I'll order the GTR 420 for the top shortly.

The GPU and PSU should be here tomorrow, but I'll be out for business until Thursday night. So pics by Thursday or Friday biggrin.gif

Got my first GPU and PSU in on Thursday:

I am very impressed with the build quality of the Aorus Waterforce WB. It looks much better in person than in pictures! And what a monster power cord on the EVGA psu, 12 AWG! I might need to install a 240V circuit in my office and put a twist lock plug on the end smile.gif

I also got the Noctua Industrial fans in on Saturday and did some testing:

I decided to go with the 3000 and order 6 more. I'll return the 2000 I bought to test. The 3000 can PWM down to 280 rpm! They are silent to me below 1300 or so. No problems starting them at low rpm either. It sure was a pain to get the fan shroud / fans / radiator all assembled. The screws that came with the rad are too long (not sure what they'd even be used for?) so I'll order some M4 30mm screws.
Unfortunately I dropped the rad and nicked one of the tubes when I was test fitting it in the case. I filled it with water and it doesn't leak. It still could once pressurized, so I'll set it up in a test loop when I get my pump/res and let it run for a day at full power to make sure it's still good.
