[Build Log] Project Silent Minimalist - CaseLabs SMA8a TR1950x 1080Ti (x2)

This is my first build since 2014 (see my Puff's Punisher S3 Build).  I was forced to sell that build shortly after building it due to a sudden move and I've been itching for a new build ever since.  Well, today (or in a month when my SMA8 rev. A arrives) is the day.

This build will be my daily workstation that focuses on VM's, mining, and a little gaming on the side.  So a little bit for everyone.  For these purposes I've chosen to build around the Threadripper 1950x and x399 platform.  Below is a list of components I've ordered/will be ordering and it will be updated regularly along with images as parts arrive.  Feel free to chime in to discuss the physical components or the daily uses for this build as there are many.  Links are to where I purchased these items though the prices have changed on some since I purchased them.

Workstation Components

WaterCooling

The goal of this water loop is to get as silent of cooling as possible.  I'll be using ultra low speed fans and doing two loops.

Monitor

Dell U3818DW 38" Ultrawide 3840x1600 Monitor (yes not a gaming monitor, but then again I game maybe once/twice a month)

Just a small warning AquaComputer Aquaero does not work well with Silent Wings 3 PWM. Also there a bit of a gap between each fan creating some dead spots on the radiator.

Current Build: Project Frost
Gaming Rig Build: Project Ice Dragon

Hmmm what kind of problems? What other low speed fans would you recommend?

The issue that the OP is talking about is that the PWM version of the silent wings 3 suffers from non linear PWM response when used with the Aquaero. In particular there is a large speed drop going from 100% to 99% control. The solutions (easiest to most hassle) are either 1) put up with it, 2) use voltage regulation on DC SW3 or 3) use a pull up circuit to correct the PWM behaviour. Or use different fans. But SW3 are great fans.

The issue is discussed here: http://thermalbench.com/2016/10/31/b...h-speed-fan/3/ Diva is a community member is you want to contact her about option 3).

Hmmm, this is disconcerting. Was trying to limit any fan modding as I'm already going to have to do plenty of case modding for this build.

@darlene647 Are you able to comment on how you configured these pull up circuits?
