Your thoughts on my parts?

Hi all just need advice for my first build. I’ve finally decided to leave the gaming laptop scene and build my first gaming desktop. I’ve gone all out with a budget of £3k. Already had an Acer Predator X34P. All the parts listed below I already have ordered and received.

Cooler Master MasterCase H500P Mesh

ASUS ROG Strix Z390-E Gaming LGA1151

I9 9900K

32GB 3600MHz (4x8gb) Corsair Vengeance PRO RGB DDR4 Desktop Memory Black C18

Cooler Master MasterLiquid ML360R RGB Liquid CPU Cooler

MSI GeForce RTX 2080 Ti GAMING X TRIO 11GB Graphics Card

Samsung 500gb 970 EVO Plus NVMe M.2 SSD MZ-V70S500BW

Western Digital WDS500G2B0B WD Blue 3D NAND Internal SSD M.2 SATA, 500 GB - Black

Team Group Delta RGB SSD (Magnificent Version) Black 250GB SATA III 2.5" Internal Solid State Drive x2

Seagate 2 TB BarraCuda 3.5 Inch Internal Hard Drive (7200 RPM, 256 MB Cache, SATA 6 Gb/s, Up to 220 MB/s, Model: ST2000DMZ08/DM008)

Corsair RM850, RM Series, 80 Plus Gold Certified, 850 W Fully Modular ATX Power Supply - Black

Cooler Master MasterFan MF140R ARGB 140mm Addressable RGB Fan (for back of case)

120mm 3-Pack Cooler Master MasterFan MF120R, Black, 9 Blade, Upto 2000RPM, Upto 59CFM Airflow, 31dB Max, PWM (to place on other side of radiator. So 6 fans total)

The GPU you picked is super long at 32,7cm and is one of if not THE longest card you can buy and the sag on it is ridiculous so if you want that card you should think of putting something under it to keep it up or buy another model

The Samsung 970 Evo is a overpriced ripoff and any of these are almost as good and way cheaper https://www.overclock.net/forum/355-...2-toshiba.html
If you want a Seagate HDD at least buy a Pro model they are better in every way and you get a 5 year warranty as well as 2 years of free data recovery service

The PSU is way overkill and is a massive ripoff and its a downgraded version of the RMx sold at the same price so its literary one of the worst things you could have bought
Buy a Fractal Design Ion+ or Seasonic Focus GX 750/760 they are better and cost almost the same as the overpriced RM if not less

Edit: if you already bought everything send the parts back you have been ripped off with several parts and you could have spent less and gotten better parts if you asked before you ordered
The Corsair RM especially was a very bad choise

Looks great but why do you need a traditional hard drive? I know you already ordered but if it were me I’d have gone two M.2 NVMe and two big SATA drives. I don’t see a reason to use mechanical drives anymore unless you’re trying to cut costs.

Anything smaller than 4 TB and i agree with you there is no point its just extra noise and weight
Its a whole other story if you need to dump a ton of 4K video and need a ton of space in that use case no SSD big exist

If you want or need to buy a HDD buy one with more than 4 TB not less

Thanks for swift replies. I appreciate your input. Like I said I’ve already got the parts. I have an EZDIY-FAB ARGB Graphics Card Holder but did not add to list as I didn’t think it was essential. I was initially going for a 750w PSU but decided to go for 850w to compensate for future upgrades. Rather have more juice than less. I have more 2.5” SSD’s from previous laptop upgrades which I could always use. I read a few forums and everyone was recommending Corsair, be quiet, or fractal PSU’s, that’s why I purchased the Corsair psu. Think I paid around £90 which I didn’t think was expensive

I purchased the HDD for things like photos and so on. All my games will be on SSD’s. I have 2 crucial SSD’s around. First is a 1TB AND seconds a 250 GB, so if I wanted I could always add them to the build.

Corsair, Be Quiet and Fractal Design dont make any of the PSU´s they sell its all made by a 3rd party OEM in China so what you bought has not been made by Corsair its made by a company called CWT and what you bought is a downgraded version of the RMx

£90 is still a bit too much to pay for an RM and next time you would be better off seeking advice before you buy the parts not after

Very true. But is it a descent psu. I don’t want to be replacing it in a few months. I think it has a 10 year warranty.

There are many options much better than the RM its not horrible but its way overpriced for what you get
A Seasonic Focus or Prime Ultra or the Fractal Design Ion+ would have been a much better option even if they cost more and in the case of the Prime Ultra you get 12 years of warranty if that matters
