New here with a new build

Hey everyone Just finished a new build recently... well finished is a stretch. I still have quite a bit of customizing to do. Here are the specs so far. Keep in mind this is a work in progress.

Ryzen 7 2700X @4.225 on all cores cooled with a Noctua NH-D15 on an Asus Crosshair VII Hero Wifi (X470) with 32 Gigs of Corsair Vengeance LPX @ 3200 Mhz. Gigabyte Aorus RTX 2070, Samsung 970EVO NVMe M.2 SSD 500Gb (boot/os) 2 Kingston A400 240Gb in RAID0 (combined 480Gb), Seagate Barracuda 2Tb 7200rpm HDD, Toshiba X300 6Tb 7200rpm. All powered by an EVGA Supernova G3 1000 inside of a Corsair Air 450.

Why a 1000 watt PSU for a system that does not even draw half that? also about the loudest PSU you could have picked if you use it in eco mode

It's the one I had from my last build. 8) No point in spending money if you don't have to. I don't use eco mode and its damn near silent. I can't hear it at all at idle or under load.

If you've been around longer you'd know shilka meant not to slight you. Haha. I, too, have a Supernova B2 850 for my R5 1600 and GTX 1060. Uses a quarter of the power delivered. lol.

The PSU was a leftover for when i ran crossfire R9 290s.

Welcome. Nice build. Have that case, too.

Post here . . .

Nice! My last build was an 8350fx @4.8Ghz with an Sapphire R9390. I had a Corsair TX750 in it that went bad and took out the water pump of the AIO I had. When I replaced the PSU I decided to go with something with more headroom. I think I was cutting it close with the heavy overclock and everything else that was connected. Hence the 1000watts... and it was on sale for like $90.

So you went overboard. lol. Had a Supernova 1300W at first and was able to oc my 290s to 1250 MHz. Downgraded to 850W, which tripped when i had the 290s oc'ed to 1200MHz.

Waiting for Navi. I read it is or they'll be monsters.

That DH15 is huge but fits perfectly inside.

Welcome to OCN!

That's a mighty nice config you got there! Be sure to use the "RIGBUILDER" on the top bar to create your PC and add it under User CP -> edit signature -> "show my rigs in my signature" -> select first rig.
There are also quite a few clubs out there for your D15 cooler, 2700x, RTX etc so if you want, you can join them and add to your signature. (just use the top right search button to find them).

You will find here a lot of people with a lot of knowledge so feel free to always ask about anything, even off topic.
Just be sure when you open a thread, to select the correct sub-forum. Easiest way is from the drop down menu on top -> FORUMS.

Enjoy OCN! for me, it has been my go to forum when it comes to PCs and tech.

C2D 6750 -> C2Q 6600 -> C2Q 9550 -> i7 2600k -> i7 8700k
8800GT -> 8800GTS 512 -> GTX285 -> GTX480 -> GTX580 -> GTX780ti -> GTX980ti -> GTX1080ti
