another manner i've gotten some recognition is posting (what i thought are/were) good, helpful news items. years ago i posted an indepth ananandtech article concerning all that frame pacing fiasco stuff and not so long ago a Hocp article testing a 10 y/o seasonic PSU that pretty much blew all that "capacitor aging" garbage out the water.
in the meantime, don't look for them as much as trying to be genuinely helpful, they'll come and probably when you least expect it.
or you can just get 35 friends and family to join . . .
edit: just keep in mind staff can and will remove rep if there is signs of abuse along with some ban hammer action. i got all happy one night after a benchmarking competition and handed out ~2,500 reps to everyone posting scores.
staff was NOT happy with me and neither were the folks who saw their flames snuffed out. got a "time out" for it also.
